2007-05-20 Bulletin

We are God's Children—gathered by Him in love—to bring glory to the Triune God, to pray, to seek the lost, to nurture the young in the Lord, to care for the hurting, and to encourage one another. We do this in obedience to His Word.

Church Family

Continue to remember our shut-ins: Ann Swier, Margaret Bos, Theresa Salomons, Tena Ellen and Jackie Hartenhof.

Thank You

We wish to thank the congregation for their support through cards, prayers and words of encouragement with the sudden loss of our Father and Grandfather Bill Geldof. Once again, we have been richly blessed and encouraged by the family of God both here and in Chilliwack, B.C. Henry & Anita Geldof and family

Flower Ministry

The flowers this week are in honor of Pastor Peter’s 80th birthday. We praise God for His faithfulness in Pastor Peter’s life and pray that the year ahead may overflow with God’s blessings. Congratulations Pastor Peter!

Prayer for the Persecuted Church

INDIA On May 13, Hindu militants attacked a worship service at a Village Vision India church in the town of Kushalnagar. The militants destroyed Bibles and beat several Christians, including Pastor Channiagha and Pastor George. They told Pastor George to stop converting people to Christianity. Later militants went to Pastor George's house and assaulted his wife along with their one-year-old daughter. Also on May 13, police and Hindu militants beat three Christians in Nagegowda district and threatened to murder Pastor D. Titus. When they did not find Titus, the militants went to his house where they beat three believers after questioning them about his whereabouts. On May 13 Pastor Hosula Raj was beaten by a mob of Hindu militants who disrupted a morning worship service. The militants, some armed with clubs, beat several Christians including Pastor Hosula, who was then bound in chains and dragged to the local police station where they complained that he was committing forced conversions. Pray that all charges against Pastor Hosula will be dropped. Ask that God will give healing to all those injured. Pray that Christians in India will keep their eyes on Jesus, persevere in their faith, and not grow weary or lose heart. (Hebrews 10:32-39; 12:1-3).

PRAYER REQUEST:

Praise God for a new and unprecedented opportunity to broadcast throughout Russia over a powerful government radio station, Radio Mayak. At the same time, one of our major partners, TWR (TransWorld Radio), was forced off the air in St. Petersburg. Pray for this matter to be resolved soon so we can reach our listeners with the Good News of Jesus.

PreSchool Sunday School.

Today, May 27 will be the last Sunday for those children who will be in Grade 1 in the fall. We are looking for volunteer teachers and helpers so that we can run our summer program for the younger children. A sign up sheet is located on the back foyer table, so please volunteer and sign up to help us out for a week. Thanks.

Youth Praise Team

The next practice will be Monday, May 28th and then before the service on June 3rd.

YC TICKETS

Our last two YC tickets have been sold and we now have 21 young people and 6 leaders heading out for this exciting weekend. This is double our last year’s numbers and we praise God for that. The cost for Hotel and Bus comes out to $55.00 per person. Please get those funds to Wayne Bouwman as soon as possible. As well there are still a few who have not paid their registration fees. Please pay this as well.

Young Adults

Young Adults. This is just a notice to let you know that due to lack of volunteers for the SAM’s Café leadership committee, SAM’s Café will no longer be running. All funds raised by the ministry will be donated to a charitable organization.

Seniors Bus Trip

The Seniors are reminded of the bus trip this Thursday, May 24th. We plan to leave the church parking lot at 8:00 am.

From the Cuba Connection Committee of Classis Alberta North

The Bible League in Haiti:

People in one of Haiti’s roughest neighbourhoods feared coming out even in daylight. But when a church planter began his ministry, more than 200 people attended the first service! Please, pray for these residents, that they may have new vision and purpose! Visit www.bibleleague.ca, or call 1-800-363-9673 to help support bold church planters in Haiti in their ministry.

From the Secretary

Greetings for Grand Rapids!

Just another update, to let you know how the Kralts are doing. James is now finished with his classes at Calvin Seminary, and so we’re ready to start our one-year internship. We had hoped to do that internship in Canada, but things did not work out, so instead we’ll be serving East Paris CRC, the church in the Grand Rapids area which we have been attending for the past three years. We expect to move into their parsonage the week of May 13, and begin the internship officially on June 1. Marilyn will continue to be their Coffee Break coordinator, Evelyn will be able to go to Gr. 1 with her friends from kindergarten, and Anna will have a new basement playroom! Our new address will be 3035 East Paris Ave SE, Kentwood, MI, USA 49512. Our phone number will still be (616)464-2566.
