Church FamilyMay both Grace and Simon be blessed with a wonderful day of celebration and a year in which they know the presence of the Lord. A year which is rich in showers of blessing. Peter and Ruth Sluys are in Neerlandia this weekend, resting at the home of their daughter. Remember our shut-ins as well: Tena Ellen, Ann Swier, Margaret Bos, Theresa Salomons, and Jackie Hartenhof. Our missionaries around the world continue to covet our prayers. Prayer RequestI will be leaving for Romania on Wednesday (12th) until the end of December. I will be going with a friend and we will be working in an Emergency Placement Center/Orphanage for abused and neglected children ages 2-7. Please pray for us in our travels, and while we are there; and pray that God will use us to encourage the children and any others we meet. From the Worship Ministry Leadership TeamNext week during the morning service we will hand out commitment forms about the following worship needs – we would ask you to fill it out and we will collect it at the end of the service. We realize young people from grades 7 – 12 will be at their retreat, so we ask that you talk and pray as families this week about how each person can contribute to worship. We especially need more musicians for the services and praise teams. People can be part of the regular schedule or share a service with another musician. There will be a detailed list of needs on the commitment forms for the following areas. We need you! Power Point ProgrammersPutting together power point presentations for the worship services. Can be done at church or from a personal computer - training is available. MusiciansAll ages; play piano, organ, guitar, drums or any kind of instrument during services, offertories, pre-service singing, special occasions and for praise teams. Children’s story leadersProviding a short children’s message during the morning service; the theme and story ideas will be provided by the pastor. Song leadersSelect songs and lead the congregation in singing at the beginning of worship. Minimum age is Grade 5. ReadersReading scripture, litanies or special readings. Power Point projector operatorsOperating the computer & projector for Power Point presentations during the worship services. Minimum age is Grade 9 - training is available. SingersAll ages; for praise teams, special choirs, solo or duet teams - to provide leading in worship or special music. Prayer for the Persecuted ChurchAlgeria - Five Christians were sentenced in early June on charges related to preaching Christian doctrine and public order offences violating the country's law on religious practice. The sentences vary between one year in prison and a one year suspended sentence with a fine of 5000 DZD ($77 CAD). Ask God to give strength and courage to those who are imprisoned. Pray for the spread of the Gospel in Algeria despite government opposition. For more information on persecution in Algeria, go to www.persecution.net/country/algeria.htm. Bethel Youth2007 Bethel Youth RetreatOn Sept 14-16 we will have our kickoff retreat for Tuesday Night Youth. If you are in grades 7-12 you are invited and encouraged to come out for this exciting weekend. We are at the Bar Harbour Camp on Buffalo Lake. Our theme is “Discover your Gifts.” There will be times of praise and worship, various youth leaders will speak and we will enjoy group games and other fun activities (based on the weather). To check out the camp go to barharbourcamp.com; there are also registration forms on the table in the foyer. Plans are coming together for the Youth Retreat. To help reduce costs we would ask you to consider reducing our grocery costs by donating an item or two for our hungry young people. See the list on the center page of the bulletin. Children in Worship – Grades 1 & 2Will begin their season today. They are asked to leave the sanctuary at the same time as the preschool Sunday school classes. Grades 3 - 6 Sunday SchoolWill also begin today. Grades 3 and 4 will be having classes together , meeting in room # 6 (the old library) and will be led by Mr. Marvin Ebens. Grades 5 and 6 will be having classes together, meeting in room # 12 (next to council room) and will be led by Mrs. Ann Wildeboer. Please be reminded that teachers will leave during the first verse of the song of response and the children will leave during the last verse, and will be finished classes approximately 45 minutes after leaving the sanctuary.
