2007-09-09 Bulletin

We are God's Children—gathered by Him in love—to bring glory to the Triune God, to pray, to seek the lost, to nurture the young in the Lord, to care for the hurting, and to encourage one another.  We do this in obedience to His Word.

Church Family

May both Grace and Simon be blessed with a wonderful day of celebration and a year in which they know the presence of the Lord. A year which is rich in showers of blessing.

Peter and Ruth Sluys are in Neerlandia this weekend, resting at the home of their daughter.

Remember our shut-ins as well: Tena Ellen, Ann Swier, Margaret Bos, Theresa Salomons, and Jackie Hartenhof.

Our missionaries around the world continue to covet our prayers.

Prayer Request

I will be leaving for Romania on Wednesday (12th) until the end of December. I will be going with a friend and we will be working in an Emergency Placement Center/Orphanage for abused and neglected children ages 2-7. Please pray for us in our travels, and while we are there; and pray that God will use us to encourage the children and any others we meet. Sharon Van Stryland

Flower Ministry:

Our flowers this week will be brought to Mrs. Grace Vander Veen as she celebrates her birthday. God’s blessings as you celebrate another special day with your family and friends. May His grace and favor rest upon you today and all through the coming year.

From the Worship Ministry Leadership Team

Next week during the morning service we will hand out commitment forms about the following worship needs – we would ask you to fill it out and we will collect it at the end of the service. We realize young people from grades 7 – 12 will be at their retreat, so we ask that you talk and pray as families this week about how each person can contribute to worship. We especially need more musicians for the services and praise teams. People can be part of the regular schedule or share a service with another musician. There will be a detailed list of needs on the commitment forms for the following areas.

We need you!

All ages; for praise teams, special choirs, solo or duet teams - to provide leading in worship or special music.

Prayer for the Persecuted Church

Algeria - Five Christians were sentenced in early June on charges related to preaching Christian doctrine and public order offences violating the country's law on religious practice. The sentences vary between one year in prison and a one year suspended sentence with a fine of 5000 DZD ($77 CAD). Ask God to give strength and courage to those who are imprisoned. Pray for the spread of the Gospel in Algeria despite government opposition. For more information on persecution in Algeria, go to www.persecution.net/country/algeria.htm.

Bethel Youth

2007 Bethel Youth Retreat

On Sept 14-16 we will have our kickoff retreat for Tuesday Night Youth. If you are in grades 7-12 you are invited and encouraged to come out for this exciting weekend. We are at the Bar Harbour Camp on Buffalo Lake. Our theme is “Discover your Gifts.” There will be times of praise and worship, various youth leaders will speak and we will enjoy group games and other fun activities (based on the weather). To check out the camp go to barharbourcamp.com; there are also registration forms on the table in the foyer.

Plans are coming together for the Youth Retreat. To help reduce costs we would ask you to consider reducing our grocery costs by donating an item or two for our hungry young people. See the list on the center page of the bulletin.
