2007-11-04 Bulletin

We are God's Children—gathered by Him in love—to bring glory to the Triune God, to pray, to seek the lost, to nurture the young in the Lord, to care for the hurting, and to encourage one another.  We do this in obedience to His Word.

Next Sunday, November 11th

We have the privilege to witness the profession of faith of Andrew andCarina Tenbrinke and the profession of faith and baptism of Gord and Chelsea Bos and theirchildren, William and Dominic. We thank God for his grace to them and to us all as we celebrate this special occasion together. In the evening we turn to Matthew 16:19 where Jesus talks about the Keys of the Kingdom. Pastor Mike will lead the services.

Discipleship Series

We have begun a five part sermon series on discipleship. It comes out of our 150th Anniversary celebrations where we rededicated ourselves to serving our Lord Jesus, following him as his disciples. The series includes a devotional book with daily readings. There are a few left. If you did not get one ask Pastor Mike. It also includes discussion times. These will be every Saturday evening from 7:30 – 9:00. We will go over the devotional readings and the sermons, answering any questions and encouraging each other as disciples of Christ. Everyone is welcome.

Church Family

We prayed for Mr. Dick Meindersma on an evening a few weeks ago as he was diagnosed with cancer. At this time he is doing well and the situation is hopeful and we give thanks to God for his grace and care.

Remember our shut-ins: Tena Ellen, Ann Swier, Margaret Bos, Theresa Salomons, and Jackie Hartenhof.

Our missionaries around the world continue to covet our prayers. .

All Sound personnel

Please meet after this morning’s service at the sound booth for a short information session.

Practices for the drama for the Kids Christmas worship service begin on Tuesday November 6th right after schooltill 4:30 p.m.

Kids, please try to memorize as many lines of your part as possible. Refreshments will be served. Do you enjoy baking cookies and need some very willing taste testers? About 25 of us could help you out each Tuesday after school.

We will also be looking for some original art work done by our youth to put on the power point during this special service. This art should reflect our Christian Christmas theme and must be in Gaylene Tenbrinke's mailbox by November 25th – please put your name on the back.

There will also be an opportunity for our young musicians to play some appropriate Christmas music on their instrument before and after the service. For more information on any of this announcement, contact Harriet Luymes at 782-2572.

Prayer for the Persecuted Church

China

Christians throughout China fear tough restrictions on their freedom to worship following the launch of a government crackdown in anticipation of the August 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. As a result of the crackdown, there are reports of a shortage of Bibles and house churches raids and arrests. An unprecedented number of foreign Christians are being expelled from China in recent months. Pray that Christians living in China would persevere amid the increasing persecution by the Chinese government.
