2007-11-25 Bulletin

We are God's Children—gathered by Him in love—to bring glory to the Triune God, to pray, to seek the lost, to nurture the young in the Lord, to care for the hurting, and to encourage one another. We do this in obedience to His Word.

Our Church Family

Ruth Sluys has returned from the local hospital and rests at home. We are encouraged that the heart procedure may happen before Christmas. Pray for patience and sufficient strength.

Remember our shut-ins: Tena Ellen, Ann Swier, Margaret Bos, Theresa Salomons, and Jackie Hartenhof.

To any of our members in Bethel:

For the past three years I have taken the initiative to coordinate a Junior youth activity night once a month. The task of this has been most enjoyable but due to taking on the secretary position along with Cindy Prins, I find I can't continue. What I'm asking is that people pray and seriously consider this worthwhile ministry. If you have any questions please call Dana at 357-1770/783-2367 or email at john.dana@xplornet.com. Thank you

Church Signage:

You may have noticed the new signs in halls and rooms showing people the way around the church. It looks great and is very helpful, especially for guests. Thanks to those who helped out.

From the Education MLT - please keep all children off the stage.

There are Sunday school classes meeting in the rooms under the fellowship hall after the service on Sunday mornings. These classrooms are not soundproof and the thumping noise of children jumping drowns out the voices in the classroom and is very distracting to the students and teachers. Your help is most appreciated.

Are you handy?

The EMLT needs a few signs made. Please call Jan Zuidhof at 885-5263 if you can help out. Thank you.

KID’S CHRISTMAS WORSHIP SERVICE:

Practice for the Kids Christmas Worship service will be held Tuesday, Nov. 27, after school till 4:45. Thank you to the Vandenborns for the wonderful treat we enjoyed! Many of you have done an excellent job of memorizing your lines already, please continue to review and think about the actions that go with them. We are hoping to start dress rehearsals next week and will need a little more time to run through the service. Contact Harriet 782-2572, if you have any questions or would like to provide snack.

NEWSLETTER:

Another month has flown by and it is time to get the next NEWSLETTER ready for your mailboxes. If anyone has articles or updates about their groups, ministries or Ministry Leadership Teams that they would like included in the December NEWSLETTER, please give them to either Anita Geldof or Harriet Luymes, by Monday, November 26th. If you receive a request for a write up to go with your picture for the NEWSLETTER, please do your best to write up something. It doesn't have to be long. We try to put the write ups in the NEWSLETTER during the month that your picture will be shown so there is a little consistency, but things do change. We look forward to introducing the family of Bethel in this way - a few each month. Thanks to all those who have given their time and talents so far. It makes for very interesting reading!!

Prayer for the Persecuted Church

Iran

An Iranian couple was arrested on September 21, 2005. They had gathered in a house, in a town northwest of Tehran for their regular prayer and devotional time. The woman was born into a Christian family, while the man converted to Christianity long before their marriage. Following the arrest, the couple was required to check in with authorities on a regular basis until the court decided their punishment. The last time the wife met with authorities, she was sexually abused by one of the agents. She decided not to return! A few days later, in September 2007, two female and four male agents went to this couple's house and showed them a letter from the court saying they would execute the sentence of whipping right there in their house. The couple was then whipped. This couple is under high mental pressure right now and requested all Iranians and believers in Christ all over the world to pray for peace, health and protection.
Pray for healing and strength for this couple as they stand firm in their faith as they labour for Christ (1 Cor. 15:58).
