2007-12-09 Bulletin

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 9:6

Next Sunday, December 16th

We continue our Christmas Advent series. Our theme this year is “Advent Transformations”. We will see how Christmas transforms Joseph from Self-directed to Obedience.

In the evening we welcome our children as they present, “Born For You and Me: A Christmas Play for Children” by Laura & Robert Keeley.

Our Church Family

This week please remember Phil & Lisa Tenbrinke and their children in your prayers.

Klaas Boskers was in hospital this past week with pneumonia. He is doing better and we trust he can return home soon.

Do remember our seniors in prayer during the difficult cold winter months.

Remember our shut-ins: Tena Ellen, Ann Swier, Margaret Bos, Theresa Salomons, and Jackie Hartenhof.

You will notice the sanctuary has been decorated for Advent. We ask parents to inform your children to not touch the tree or the displays at the front of the church. Thank you from the Worship MLT!

Christmas Baking

Over the next few weeks we will be having some special services in our church. We would love to serve some homemade goodies following the Candlelight service on December 23rd and on Christmas day. If you are starting your Christmas baking, please keep the church in mind and perhaps bake an extra dozen or two for these times of fellowship.

We will have a short practice in the sanctuary today after the service to go over our songs for the Kid's Christmas Worship Service.

This should only take about 15 minutes. Enjoy a coffee with some friends and we will bring your little ones to you in the fellowship hall when we are done.

Just a little reminder to have your little ones at Church by 6:45 p.m. on Dec 16th.

We will need a few minutes to get them into their costumes. The children will be sitting up at the front for the service so you do not need to save a spot for them. Also, if you still have sandals that fit, bring them along that night.

To all who came and supported our Sinterklaas Bazaar on December 1st. The food, games and fellowship was enjoyed by many. Even in their busy schedule Sinterklaas & Zwarte Piet made time to visit us. We would like to thank all the parents who helped with either serving, baking or cooking. We had many winners; please check out the posters by the kitchen for the results. Thank you for supporting our Mexico Mission trip!

Prayer for the Persecuted Church

The leader of a small, unregistered Baptist church in Khalkabad, Uzbekistan, Nikolai Zulfikarov, has been sentenced to two years of "correctional labor." He was ordered to pay twenty percent of all of his earnings for the next two years as a fine. Zulfikarov was convicted of "teaching religious doctrines without special religious education and without permission from a central organ of administration of a religious organization, plus teaching religion privately." Zulfikarov had hosted worship services in his house for the small church consisting of only five adult members. It is yet unknown if he will appeal the sentence. Pray for wisdom, strength and provision for Nikolai and members of this church in Uzbekistan.

Please contact the canvasser in your area, Wendy Barnes (Business Administrator) 782-4535 or Jaap Dominicus (Board Treasurer) 783-6848 if you have any questions or need assistance. You may also mail your donations to C.A.C.H.S. 22 Eagle Road, Lacombe, AB T4L 1G7 attention Wendy Barnes.
