2008-03-23 Bulletin

We are God's Children - gathered by Him in love - to bring glory to the Triune God, to pray, to seek the lost, to nurture the young in the Lord, to care for the hurting, and to encourage one another. We do this in obedience to His Word.

Next Sunday, March 30th

We welcome Chaplain Rick Van Mannen of the University of Alberta to lead our morning service. He would like to meet with any high school students or parents who would like information about the University of Alberta. The Youth ministry leadership team will host a soup & bun lunch after the morning service for Rick and those interested in talking to him. Pastor Harry Zantingh from Sonrise Ponoka CRC will lead our worship in the evening. Pastor Mike has a Sunday off.

Our Church Family

Teus VanderVlis returned home this week and is doing well. We thank God for his grace and mercy.

Condolences to Gerrit and Wigger Meindersma and their families with the death of their sister in law, Joan, wife of Ernie in B.C. She was 80 years old. The funeral was this past Monday with many family members attending. May the comfort of the Lord Jesus be with you all.

We extend our sincere Christian condolences to Scott and Irene Fraser and the family with the death of Scott’s mother this past Wednesday. She had been ill for some time with much pain. May our gracious Lord comfort you in his tender care in this time of sadness.

Many of you will remember Tom and Grace Dang and their children, Mona, Lucy and Roger – our church sponsored them as a refugee family from Viet Nam many years ago. Grace passed away from cancer this past Tuesday at the age of 55 years. She was ill for 3 years and had moved to Edmonton to be closer to her children and medical care. We thank God that she gave her life to him and that he has called her home. Her funeral will held on Monday, March 24th at 1:00 p.m. at First CRC in Edmonton. There will be a time of fellowship at the home of Pastor Cecil & Karen Van Niejenhuis following the memorial service. Please phone them at 780-451-3253 or Shirley Talsma at 748-4219 if you are thinking of attending.

Please keep the Mexico Mission team of Veronica Bouwman, Wayne Bouwman, Brittany Brander, David Hoekstra, August Luymes, Valerie Luymes, Cindy Prins, Ian Prins, Henry Stad, Sarah Stad, Michael Szelekovszky, Steven Szelekovszky, Paul Vandyk, Heather Van Haren and Marika van Velsen in your prayers as they are serving our Lord in Ensenada, Mexico. Pray for safety, health, and protection for the team. Pray that they may feel God working through them. This coming week they hope to build a home for the Rios Olmedo family. Pray also for Cyndy and her two boys, Hector, 7 and Bryan, 6 as they receive this new home and that it may be blessing to them.

Continue to remember Nathaniel Wildeboer and his family in prayer.

Thank you – John & Ria Jager appreciate so much the meals people bring to them. Ria is starting to feel better and would not mind if people stopped in for a short visit to help pass the time as she regains her strength.

Do remember our seniors and shut ins in prayer: Tena Ellen, Ann Swier, Margaret Bos, Theresa Salomons, and Jackie Hartenhof.

Remember our missionaries around the world.

Families & friends of the Mexico Mission team:

Interested on knowing what the team is up to? You can check up on them on the website from YWAM. Just click on www.missionadventuresphotos.org, find Ensenada and the previous date and view away!

From the General administration leadership team:

Just a reminder – when you have posters or notices to promote an event, please give them to the secretaries to post. Please do not put posters up on the church walls or the pillars in the foyer. The bulletin board in the foyer is provided for the display of notices & posters. Thank you!

Prayer for the Persecuted Church

Calgary

The Battle continues in the provincial courts - The date is set March 31st at 2:00 p.m. PLEASE COME! The City of Calgary is bringing an injunction against Street Church. Please Pray for us. During our four festivals by-law officers were attempting to intimidate by taking pictures and gathering what they consider evidence against the church. In reality Street Church is acting on the call of Christ to feed the poor, preach to the broken hearted and share the good news of the gospel. At the end of the day, we have to realize that Street Church is acting within the guaranteed freedoms granted us under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
