2008-12-14 Bulletin

We are God's Children - gathered by Him in love - to bring glory to the Triune God, to pray, to seek the lost, to nurture the young in the Lord, to care for the hurting, and to encourage one another. We do this in obedience to His Word.

Next Sunday, December 21st

We read from Mark 1:1-8 and consider what it would be like to have John the Baptist as our Christmas guest. In the evening we have our traditional Candle Light Service. Pastor Mike will lead in worship.

New Year’s Service

To focus our trust in God’s word we ask members of the congregation to submit Bible verses/passages that have sustained them, given them hope and/or challenged them in their faith in the past few years. It could have been in a time of joy or sadness, confusion or clarity. As God’s word touched our lives in the past, so we go forward in confidence in the new year. Please give the biblical reference and a brief insight into how the Word of God helped you. Place your submission in the box in the foyer or email Pastor Mike at pastor6@telus.net.

Christmas Goodies

Have you started your Christmas baking yet? We would like to serve coffee & Christmas goodies after some of our special services this month. If you have an extra dozen or two you would be able to share, just drop them off in the kitchen or place them in the refrigerator. We are looking for goodies for the following services: December 14th 4 p.m., December 21st Candle light service, Christmas Day, New Years' Eve & New Years' Day. Thank you!

Our Church Family

The flowers in the church will be brought to Angela & John de Regt as Angela recovers from some facial injuries she received in an accident at work a couple of weeks ago.

Congratulations to Pita Doornenbal as she celebrates her 77th birthday on December 17th and Klaas Boskers as he celebrates his 85th birthday on December 18th. May God bless you on your special days and in the year to come.

Our profit was close to $1.300.00 and it will be used for future mission trips.

Denominational News

PRAYER REQUEST:

Each year Kids Corner broadcasts a dramatic retelling of the Christmas story. Pray that many children and their families will listen and hear the true meaning of Christmas.

WHEN GOD COMES WE SEE GLORY:

Are you all Christmas'd out? Decorations and Christmas music seem to come out earlier every year. We may really enjoy the sentiment and excitement for awhile, but are you ready to pack it up right after Christmas day? Have you seen God's glory in this season? Or was it too full of gifts and parties and decorations? Spend some time at the manger on the Dec. 21 Back to God Hour. Go to www.BacktoGod.net for local stations and times.

MARY’S MIRACLE:

Have you ever wondered what Mary thought about the very first Christmas? Was she scared? Excited? Happy? Listen to Mary’s Miracle on this week’s Kids Corner. Then email Kids Corner at kids@kidscorner.net for your very own Bible study.
