2009-02-15 February 15 Bulletin

We are God's Children - gathered by Him in love - to bring glory to the Triune God, to pray, to seek the lost, to nurture the young in the Lord, to care for the hurting, and to encourage one another. We do this in obedience to His Word.

Our Church Family

This week, keep Bindert & Sarah De Jong in your daily prayers.

Congratulations to Ken and Jenny Tenbrinke with the birth of a dear daughter, Payton. We give thanks to God for this miracle of new life.

We remember Bindert de Jong’s mother, Ineke who is receiving treatments for breast cancer at this time. We seek God’s healing grace and strength for the family in this time.

Do remember our seniors and shut ins in prayer: Tilly Biel, Lea Dykstra, Tena Ellen, Wigger Meindersma, Theresa Salomons, Ruth Sluys, and Ann Swier.

Remember our missionaries around the world.

Persecuted Church

Bangladesh

Rajen Murmo (20) was attacked by a mob of approximately 50 radical Muslims in the town of Uttara, Bangladesh, where approximately four million Muslims had gathered for an annual Islamic conference on February 1st. Murmo and some fellow students from Believers' Church Bible College were distributing Christian literature when a man approached them and said that the Quran had superseded the Bible, rendering it outdated. Some men then grabbed Murmo and demanded to know who gave him the Christian literature. They also demanded that he give them the addresses of religious leaders and of his school. When he refused, the attackers beat him and threatened to kill him unless he gave them the information. Officials eventually arrived and were able to rescue Murmo. The mob pressured the officials into sending Murmo to a local police station where he was held until the principal of his school secured his release. Pray for healing for Murmo & ask God to strengthen him to remain steadfast in the midst of opposition (1 Peter 5:12).

Next Week is Communion Sunday:

Suggested ways to live in anticipation:

  • Ask God to heal your resentments
  • Acknowledge where you are wrong and then apologize
  • Work on relationships that are strained
  • Work for clarity on disagreements and misunderstandings
  • Study next Sunday's Scripture Texts and pray for our gathering.
  • Invite someone to our Worship service
  • Reflect on 1 Corinthians 11:17-34
