Our Church Family

This week the flowers will go to Steve and Gaylene Tenbrinke. Dylan, their son, has been struggling with a broken leg for the past month and to have a send cast put on was quite a disappointment last week. We pray that the Lord send you a rich measure of patience and a complete healing and restoration, so that Dylan may enjoy some fun summer activities.

Wedding Bells:

We would like to invite everyone to our wedding ceremony. Lord willing, we will be united in the covenant of marriage on Saturday, June 13, 2009 at 2:30 p.m. at the College Heights Seventh Day Adventist Church. Please note that nursery will be provided. We would love to see you there!

Amber Wiersma and Johnathon Nagel

Do remember our seniors and shut ins in prayer: Tilly Biel, Lea Dykstra, Wigger Meindersma, Theresa Salomons, Ruth Sluys, Ann Swier, and Albert De Waal.

Remember our missionaries around the world.

Church News

Next Sunday, June 14

We begin a series of sermons on Marriage. It is wedding season. There are lots of people planning weddings and attending weddings. We will begin by reading from Gen 2 as it expresses the origin and purpose of marriage. In the evening we turn to the first of the twelve minor prophets, the Prophecy of Hosea. Pastor Mike will lead our worship.

Church secretaries

please take note of a change in the office hours for the secretaries. We will be in the office on Wednesday mornings from 9 a.m. to 12 noon instead of Tuesdays for the next few months.

The June Newsletter

is in your church mail boxes today. Some of the information you would normally see in the bulletin is now in the Newsletter, so make sure to check out the new issue of the Newsletter for up to date information on what is going on in our church community.

Sunday school teachers

are needed for the Grades 3 and 4 Sunday school class in the fall. If you are interested in teaching or would like more information, please call Joan Eisses at 403-782-2345 or Mar-Deb de Regt at 403-782-5094.

The congregations of the Christian Reformed Church in North America are asked to remember the synodical assembly in intercessory prayers on Sundays, June 7 and 14. Let us pray that the Holy Spirit will equip the delegates to serve in faith and obedience and will lead the Christian Reformed Church into new and challenging areas of ministry. May we together experience the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace as we strive to know and to do the will of the Lord.

The Persecuted Church

On May 30th, Hindu militants set fire to six Christian homes in Orissa. Approximately 2,500 of the tens of thousands of people displaced by the August 2008 mob violence remain in relief camps and are fearful to return to their villages. The central government in India recently decided to withdraw paramilitary forces from the district within a month, triggering concern among Christians of further violence. Ask God to strengthen Christians in Orissa to remain steadfast as they suffer. Pray that those facing difficult and dangerous living conditions will find strength and comfort in the refuge God provides (Psalm 127).
