Our Church Family

Please keep our family of the week, Paul & Cindy Prins and children in your daily prayers.

With joy we congratulate Josh and Jolene Noordhof in their marriage yesterday. May the hope, the promise, and the commitment of their love be blessed in God’s grace and love to them.

The flowers this week will go to Mr. & Mrs. Noordhof and a bouquet for Mr. & Mrs. Middag in honour of their 55th wedding anniversaries they were able to celebrate this past month. We pray that the Lord continue to surround you with His love and care.

We are so thankful that Ruth Sluys is back in Lacombe. Doctors in Edmonton have scheduled her for another procedure in about a month. May God watch over her and Peter in the mean time and provide from the riches of his grace.

Dick Meindersma, (son of Gerrit) and his wife Ann, (daughter of Lorraine Havinga), seek our prayers again as Dick’s condition is becoming more critical. May God be near to the family & strengthen them in his grace.

Wigger Meindersma had his hip replaced in the Red Deer hospital this past week. We are so thankful to God that the surgery went well. He is now in the Lacombe hospital and does need to rest, so visitors are asked to call Pearl before dropping in for a visit with him.

Do remember our seniors and shut ins in prayer: Tilly Biel, Lea Dykstra, Wigger Meindersma, Theresa Salomons, Ruth Sluys and Ann Swier.

Remember our missionaries around the world.

Bethel News

Next Sunday, September 27th

We continue reading in our devotional book, “Living in Community” with the focus on “Fellowship.” In the evening we read from the prophet Micah, chapter 3 and its description of “God’s love for the poor.” Pastor Mike will lead the services.

RAKE & SERVE

It is that time of year that many people dread. The end of summer! With the coming of fall upon us, the Outreach MLT is once again looking at our neighbors. Last year was the first Rake and Serve. The turnout was fantastic and the community response was awesome. The first year brought out the old learning curve. Many items have been changed to make this year run like a top. This year we will be raking yards on Saturday, October 3rd from 9:00am to noon. Hot chili on a bun will be served afterward to take the edge off of the cold fall weather and of course coffee and hot chocolate. We would like to ask if you could bring your own rakes and gloves to the event. The bags and disposal of the leaves will be taken care of. Please sign up for this serve event and show our church neighbors that we are here to serve and praise our Lord everyday - not just Sunday. OMLT

Note to all Leadership teams

Rehoboth’s Board of Directors has designated September as “MEMBERSHIP CAMPAIGN MONTH.” Annual Association Membership Fees of TEN dollars are renewable in September, PLUS donations of any amount are needed and greatly appreciated. Your $10.00 Membership Fee (per person) and supporting donations insures the continuation of quality services provided in the Lord’s name. Again this year, we are encouraging each person in a family to become a member. Children under the legal age of 18 will be non-voting members. A strong membership base is a great benefit to Rehoboth when negotiating funding for the services we provide. The Persecuted Church

Colombia

Rafael Velasquez, the pastor of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Colombia was shot dead by three masked gunmen in his home on the evening of September 6th. The assailants broke into the pastor's home and murdered him in front of his wife and six young members of his church. Sources believe that paramilitary groups struggling for power are responsible for the attack. At least a dozen other pastors in the region have reportedly faced threats in recent months. In the past three years, more than 35 pastors in Colombia have been murdered and over 200 churches forcibly closed. Pray for Pastor Velasquez's family at this difficult time. Pray that the passion of God's people in Colombia will be a light that draws others to Christ.
