Our Church Family

Congratulations to Lena Spelt as she celebrates her 96th birthday tomorrow and to Bill Noordhof with the celebration of his 80th birthday on Friday, November 27th. May God be with you both on your special days and in the year to come!

Ruth has been scheduled for her "hole in the heart" procedure on Tuesday at the Alberta University hospital in Edmonton. Pray that it may bring about more extensive healing for her and join us in trusting that the Lord in His great redeeming love for us provides whatever the results may be.

Do remember our seniors and shut ins in prayer: Tilly Biel, Lea Dykstra, Wigger Meindersma, Theresa Salomons and Ruth Sluys.

Remember our missionaries around the world.

Bethel News

Next Sunday, November 29th

We begin the four Sundays of Advent. Our theme this year is “Who is Jesus” and we begin with the words of Isaiah 9:6, describing Jesus as the “Prince of Peace.” We also have the privilege of witnessing the baptism of Lucas Bangma, infant son of Devon and Roseanne. In the evening we welcome Mr. Larry Johnson and the Parkland Men’s Chorus to share the joy of Christmas in song with us.

Please note

That there will be Christmas cards to sign for our missionaries in the fellowship hall after the morning service.

Disability Concerns

Our leaders need to hear from Christians whose interest is justice, and who wish to see government use its authority to ensure that all people flourish. We hope you’ll join us in speaking to the Canadian government regarding a bill that could adversely impact people with disabilities: "Right to Die with Dignity Act" (C-384) would legalize euthanasia and assisted suicide and threaten the lives of Canadians with disabilities. For more information on this proposed legislation and on contacting your MP, see www.crcna.org/disability.

The Persecuted Church

Sixteen Christians belonging to the Kogui indigenous people group in Colombia are being held captive on their reserve in an attempt to force them to renounce Christianity. The group of believers, which includes men, women and three babies, was captured during a meeting called by the Kogui governor. Community leaders shouted abuses at the believers through the night. They were later taken to a remote area of the reserve and told they would not be freed until they renounced their faith in Christ. At last report, two of the kidnapped infants were seriously ill. The governor and his allies also humiliated non-Christian leaders who had supported the Christians in the community and protected them from being expelled. The governor reportedly intends to capture remaining Christians and force them to renounce their faith. Pray for the release of these believers. Pray that their captors will see the love of Christ, repent and come to trust in Jesus. Pray for other Christian members of the Kogui community under fire in Colombia.
