2010-03-28 March 28 - Palm Sunday

Welcome to worship this Sunday at Bethel. We are glad you came as we celebrate Palm Sunday. May God be glorified in our worship today. Do stay for fellowship and refreshments after the service.

Our Church Family

Congratulations to Tilly Biel with the celebration of her 77th birthday on April 3rd. May God be with you on your birthday and in the year to come.

Please keep the Youth Mexico Mission team in your prayers as they are serving our Lord in Ensenada, Mexico. Pray for safety, health, and protection for the team. Pray that they may feel God working through them. This coming week they hope to build the home for the Martinez Diaz family. Pray also for Jesus, Monica and their three boys, Miguel, Diego & Jesus as they receive this new home and that it may be blessing to them. “Making A Difference, One Family At A Time”

Sunday, April 4th

Easter Sunday, we read the account of the resurrection of our Lord from John 20 and reflect on the Robes of Righteousness. Pastor Mike will lead the services. In the evening Easter day we join Woodynook CRC for a combined service led by the Parkland Male chorus.

Special note for Children and Worship:

There will be no classes today or Easter Sunday.

Sunday Morning coffee:

During the kitchen renovation there will be a small kitchen centre set up in the basement at the bottom of the stairs by the elevator door. Coffee, juice fixings and disposable cups etc., can be found in this area. We will continue to enjoy our time of coffee after the morning worship service in the fellowship hall. Bring your travel coffee mugs if you would rather not drink from the paper cups! Coffee makers - please follow the directions posted on the cupboard in the basement kitchen centre. Thank you!

Kitchen Reno Memo:

A big thank you to everyone who contributed, either supplying to or buying from, the bake-sale and Dessert & Pie Auction, and sale of appliances and cupboards. All those fancy deserts and pies were in high demand! Thanks to your generous participation, the total came to close to $5,000! There are still a number of kitchen items displayed in the Fellowship Hall that everyone may help themselves to. The remaining items will be given to the Building Blocks Thrift Store.

Bethel Easter Newsletter

Time to get our Easter newsletter together. If you have any contributions, please get them to the team as soon as possible. We are especially looking for reports from the various Bible study groups that usually report at the Congregational meeting. We are always looking for contributions from the congregation so keep the topic of Easter in mind and send us something special. The newsletter will be in your mailboxes on Easter morning.

Persecuted Church

Pakistan

A Pakistani Christian man passed away on March 22nd. Arshed Masih and his wife, Martha, had been threatened with "dire consequences" by their employer, Sheikh Mohammad Sultan, unless they agreed to convert to Islam. The couple steadfastly refused. In the days before the attack, Sultan reported a theft of 500,000 rupees and, although Arshed and Martha were not named as suspects, Sultan offered to drop the case if they renounced Christianity. When they were brought in for questioning, Arshed and Martha were assaulted. The couple's three children Mary, Nasir and Neha were forced to witness the horrific violence against their parents. (Sources: BosNewsLife, AsiaNews, International Christian Concern) Ask God to comfort this family as only He can. Pray for God to heal Martha's physical and emotional wounds in the aftermath of these tragic events. Pray that Mary, Nasir and Neha will look to their heavenly Father for all they need at this time and continue to seek His face (Psalm 68:5). Pray that authorities will act swiftly and justly.
