Bethel CRC Mission Statement: We are God’s Children – gathered by Him in love – to bring glory to the Triune God, to pray, to seek the lost, to nurture the young in the Lord, to care for the hurting, and to encourage one another. We do this in obedience to His Word.

Our Church Family

Mrs. Theresa Salomons died peacefully in the Red Deer hospital on Thursday, May 5th with her children and grand children by her side. She was 85 years old. We offer our sincere Christian condolences to Ken and Trudy and the family in this time of sadness. May the comfort of the Lord Jesus enfold you as you put your hope in him.

We would like to thank our church family here at Bethel for all their prayer support, cards, food, and other kind expressions of condolence. Our family has been overwhelmed by the love and concern shown to us during Cameron's sudden death. God has surrounded us with His love and peace. Psalm 121:1-2. Love from Cathy, Curt & Amy Dowling, Bobby & Amy Froese

We would like to thank everyone for the cards, visits and prayers for Harry while he was in the hospital and now recuperating at home. We are especially thankful to our Lord for every daily blessing. Harry & Dorothy Wildeboer

Rob de Regt has had a few rough days this week, but after another CT scan, it seems the healing process has begun. To this we are very grateful. Thanks to everyone for your prayers, cards, emails and visits. God has definitely walked along side us in this time. Please continue to pray for healing, as Rob still has a way to go to feel like himself again. The de Regts

Do remember our seniors and shut ins in prayer: Tilly Biel, Lea Dykstra, Wigger Meindersma, Theresa Salomons and Herman Scholing Sr.

Remember our missionaries around the world.

Summer PreSchool Sunday School Teachers Needed.

We are looking for volunteer teachers and helpers so that we can run a summer program for the younger children during the service during June, July and August. We ask that each parent of pre-school aged children volunteer to teach at least one week this summer in order for this program to run. A sign up sheet is located on the back foyer table, so please volunteer to help out for a week. If no one signs up for a week, Pre-School Sunday School will be cancelled that week.

The Persecuted Church

Senait Oqbazgi Habta (28) died on April 23rd in the Sawa Military Training Centre in Eritrea after suffering severe abuse and being denied medical treatment for malaria and severe anemia. Senait was arrested in 2008, along with 15 other university students, for attending a Bible study group. She and the other students were imprisoned in large metal shipping containers where they suffered suffocating heat during the day and freezing temperatures at night. They were also deprived of fresh air, sanitation and medical attention. Sawa officials reportedly offered Senait her freedom and medical attention if she would recant her Christian beliefs, but she refused. Camp officials eventually relented and allowed her to be moved to the prison's medical centre. She died shortly after her transfer, however, due to her prolonged illnesses. Pray for God's comfort, peace and encouragement for Senait's family and friends. Pray that God will continue to strengthen imprisoned Eritrean Christians by His grace. Pray that their persecutors will be convicted by their testimonies of faithfulness and seek salvation in Christ. Find out more about the suffering of Eritrean Christians at www.persecution.net
