2010-06-13 June 13 Bulletin

Welcome to worship this second Sunday of June as we gather in the presence of the Lord by the power of the Spirit to offer God our worship and praise. We have the privilege of celebrating the Lord’s Supper together this morning. Do stay for fellowship and refreshments after the service.

Our Church Family

We remember Ann Vander Wal who remains in hospital in Red Deer. We are thankful she is out of intensive care but she remains quite weak.

Grace Vander Veen remains in the Lacombe hospital recovering from pneumonia.

Betty Scholing’s dad, Jake De Schiffart has been told this week that he has bone cancer. It is not known yet how far it has spread but with further testing we hope to find out more. Please pray for him as he is experiencing some back pain.

Congratulations to Dave Moniuk as he celebrates his 77th birthday tomorrow. Wishing you a fantastic day filled with the Lord’s richest blessings.

With great joy, we invite you to celebrate with us the wedding of Sharon to Greg Thalen on Friday, June 25th at 4:00 p.m., here at Bethel. Craig and Marcella Van Stryland

Do remember our seniors and shut ins in prayer: Tilly Biel, Lea Dykstra, Wigger Meindersma, and Herman Scholing Sr.

Remember our missionaries around the world.

Bethel News

Next Sunday, June 20th

We begin a series of sermons through the summer based on the reality of the seven deadly sins but declaring the opposite – “The Seven Cardinal Virtues.” Can you name them? We begin with the Christian virtue of humility that combats the sin of pride. We read from Luke 18:9-14. In the evening we read the brief letter of Philemon and reflect on its message of “Freedom in Christ.” Pastor Mike will lead our worship.

Sunshine Singers

Our new elementary-aged children's choir will meet for practice today after the morning service in the sanctuary. We will continue to meet at this time throughout the summer. Hope to see you there, kids!

The Persecuted Church

Afghanistan

In Afghanistan a member of parliament has said that Christians should be rounded up and executed, after he saw a TV-show in which Christians were getting baptized. The comments made in the show were strongly against the Christian faith. It is not known how the TV station got the video, which was secretly made. Many Afghan believers have been scared by the show and the comments of this member of parliament. Some of them have gone in hiding; one Christian is arrested and at least two are missing. Afghan Christians have asked for prayer: for protection and wisdom by deciding what to do and where to go. Pray also for the Afghan government and for TV stations that they will stop their false testimonies against Christians.
