2010-06-27 June 27 Bulletin

Welcome to worship as we gather in the presence of the Lord by the power of the Spirit to offer God our worship and praise. This morning we welcome Pastor Henry Wildeboer, and this evening Youth Elder Wayne Bouwman. Do stay for fellowship and refreshments after the service.

Our Church Family

Dear Congregation: I flew to Ontario on Thursday to be with my family in St. Catharine’s. Mom (82) is still in the hospital recovering from a broken leg. Dad (85) has congestive heart failure and is not doing so well though he is still at home. I have been in almost daily contact with them over the past few weeks, wondering if I should fly down and it became apparent that I needed to be there at this time. We appreciate your prayers. Pastor Mike

Ann Vander Wal is doing well and is set to return home to the Lodge this week.

Congratulations to Audrey Noordhof as she celebrates her 81st birthday this Thursday. Wishing you the Lord’s richest blessings this special day and into the new year!

Do remember our seniors and shut ins in prayer: Tilly Biel, Lea Dykstra, Wigger Meindersma, and Herman Scholing Sr.

Remember our missionaries around the world.

Next Sunday, July 4th

We unpack Christian Virtue #2 “Contentment.” Is there any envy you struggle with? We read from Gen 4:1-12 and the story of Cain and Abel. In the evening we turn to the fascinating letter of Hebrews as it declares that Old Testament faith is fulfilled in Christ. Pastor Mike will lead our worship.

No Circle of Friends

There will be NO Circle of Friends community supper this week.

Church Picnic:

It's almost time! On July 1st at Michener Park we will celebrate Canada Day!. We have some exciting things planned and you will not want to miss it! As usual, we are having burgers and hotdogs and we would like everyone to bring a salad or a side dish to share. You may bring some baking also. We would ask that you arrive around 11:00 AM. We will eat at 12:00. Bring lawn chairs, games, balls, frisbees, etc. We are also looking for a volleyball net. There is a sign up sheet just outside of the Sanctuary. Thank you! FMLT - (Debby, Pauline, Natalie, Jackie and Gord)

The Persecuted Church

Rehmat Masih (73) was jailed and imprisoned on accusations of blasphemy for allegedly insulting the Prophet Muhammad in Jhandewali village, on June 20th. "It is a false allegation based on events months before. The case has its background in land disputes," a local Christian leader, Father Asi, has said. Rehmat and his accuser had supported opposite sides in the local elections three months ago, which may have contributed to the tensions. Muslims have also threatened to accuse other Christian villagers of blasphemy. Pakistani Church leaders have long called for the repeal of blasphemy laws which authorize the death penalty for insults to the Prophet Muhammad and life imprisonment for acts against the Qur'an. Pray that Rehmat will be released. Ask that he will be sustained and emboldened by the grace of Christ as he suffers. Pray that the blasphemy law will be abolished in Pakistan. Ask the Lord to enable these believers to stand firm in their faith amid severe pressure.
