2010-08-29 August 29 Bulletin

Welcome to Bethel. We are glad you could join us for worship today. It is good to be together in the house of the Lord. May God be praised and we his people be encouraged in living for him.

Our Church Family

Our condolences go out to Scott and Irene Fraser and the family with the death of Scott’s father. He was 77 years old. May the comfort of his faith and ours be near you in this time of sadness.

Congratulations to Eleanor Wildeboer as she celebrates her 70th birthday on Saturday. May God continue to bless you throughout your new year!

Well, I safely have made it back to Australia! I just want to thank everyone again for all your prayers and support, and I really appreciate it. Please continue to remember me in your prayers, as I am preparing for the next Music, Art and Dance school. Thanks again. Steven Szelekovszky

You are invited to an open house in thankfulness, and celebration of Simon Swiers' 90th birthday. This will be held in the Bethel Church Fellowship hall on Saturday, September 11th from 2 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Bethel News

Next Sunday, Sept 5th

We reflect on the final Christian Virtue – Purity and Love that stand out as a powerful witness in a culture of lust. In the evening we turn to Jude and “The danger of godless living.” Pastor Mike will lead our worship.

NO Evening Service

A reminder to the congregation, there is& NO evening service here in Bethel. The annual Christian School Dedication service will be hosted by the Rimbey CRC. This service will be held at the Church of the Nazarene in Rimbey at 7:00 p.m.

Coffee Break

Is beginning Sept 22nd but there is a GREAT NEED for “Story Hour” teachers/helpers. C.B. is not C.B. without a children’s program. This would be Wednesday mornings from 9:30-11:30. A manual with lesson plans is all set up and very helpful in telling a Bible story, crafts and activities. The class may have 6-9 children ages 4-6. I can help teachers with lesson preparations. Consider helping for a month, 2 months or longer to be intentional with your time this fall. Contact Barb Vandyk if you are able to be an essential part of the Coffee Break program.

We still need one more teacher

For the 3-4 year old Pre-School Sunday School class this next year. We have two teachers in place already, and we need one more to fill a two week on, four week off rotation. Please contact Jen Zuidhof at 782-6672 ASAP if you are interested or if you have any questions.

September Newsletter

The months are flying by and now we are ready to get our September - Back to School newsletter in your boxes. Please forward your contributions to any of the newsletter team or place it in the newsletter mailbox in the foyer. We look forward to this issue and we look at going back to school. Maybe you have a story about going back to school in the old days. We love to have the congregation share their stories with us. What a great way to get to know each other - to encourage one another. We are hoping that each of the ministries that start up in the fall will drop us a short note about their plans for start up. Friendship, Gems, Cadets, Coffee Break etc. We would really like to have a short note from each of you. Let us keep the congregation informed so we can plan and pray together. Thanks so much. We look forward to hearing from you. Laura Duckett, Harriet Luymes, Ann Wildeboer, Anita Geldof

Got Ministry Questions?

There's a new website where people across the CRC are comparing notes, asking questions, and sharing ministry tips. It's called The Network and covers 51 ministry areas - deacons, treasurers, church nurseries, small groups, Sunday school, and much more. As we gear up for the fall, check out www.crcna.org/network

The Persecuted Church

On August 15th, police arrested 12 believers in Karnataka state. Pastor Satish and Ravi, an evangelist with India Campus Crusade for Christ, were conducting a service in a believer's home when approximately 30 people entered the building and started to accuse them of forcibly converting locals. Later that day, 10 of the believers were released; Pastor Satish and Ravi remained in detention at last report. Pray for the release of these believers. Pray that their testimonies of faithfulness amid adversity will draw non-believers into fellowship with Christ. Pray that the Word of God will continue to be declared with clarity, boldness, love, and power in India (Ephesians 6:19-20).
