Our Church Family

We pray for Ed and Cora Stol and the family as Cora was diagnosed with cancer, specifically, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. She is scheduled to begin treatments in the new year. We pray that God will be near with his grace in this time of uncertainty for the family and that God’s healing hand will rest on Cora.

Do remember our seniors and shut ins in prayer: Tony & Henny Middag, Ann Vander Wal,

Tilly Biel and Lea Dykstra

Remember our missionaries around the world.

Bethel News

Next Sunday, December 12th

We continue our Advent series on Christmas Angels in reading Luke 2:8-20 as the “Shepherds are transformed by Joy.” Our second service will be at 4:00 p.m., not at 7:00 as we have a Church Christmas Praise service in which all age groups take part. Don’t miss this special service of drama and song.

Christmas Banners:

We wish to thank Gaylene Tenbrinke and Jenny Tenbrinke for their beautiful work painting the Christmas banners this year. The set of five banners/canvases expresses the Advent themes of Hope, Peace, Joy and Love, concluding with Christ, the light of the world.

Goats for Tanzania:

Thank you,Bethel congregation for your generous support for the 175 goats in Tanzania. This generous gift will go a long way in changing the lives of many families and orphans. It will give them hope as we minister to them in Jesus’ name. At the same time I feel empowered through your support and prayers! I will be faithful in sharing my stories with you about my work and what the Lord is doing in Tanzania. I am still here in North America for a few more days and then I will return home to Tanzania. I will be with my family for the Christmas holidays and be back in my office right after New Year. May God continue to use us all as His Hands and Feet as we faithfully serve Him wherever He has placed us! God’s blessings to you - Margaret Njuguna.

Community Christmas Dinner:

We are still in need of people to help on the morning of December 25th to warm up food and finish setting up. We also need people to do the clean up after the meal. We are looking for a donation yet of one turkey and one ham. If you could help us out with this, please contact Jen Zuidhof, Jeanne Ebens, or Liz Stad. Thank you from the Outreach MLT.

The Persecuted Church

Ethiopia

Tamirat, a Christian in Ethiopia, was sentenced to three years in prison for allegedly desecrating a Qur'an. The father of two was arrested in early August after a Muslim co-worker in the clothes-making business discovered he had inscribed "Jesus is Lord" on some cloth. This business partner later accused him of writing "Jesus is Lord" in a copy of the Qur'an, although no evidence of that ever surfaced. Tamirat was sentenced on November 18th and transferred to Jijiga prison. Jijiga is governed by Islamic principles. Tamirat's transfer there puts his life in great danger. The church is concerned about his condition. Pray Tamirat will be blessed with the Lord's comforting strength and presence. Pray for his release from prison and, in the meantime, pray for his protection. Pray the Lord will ease the grip of Islamic rule and influence over parts of Ethiopia.
