Our Church Family

Congratulations to John and Angela de Regt and the family with the birth of Lincoln John this past Tuesday. We praise God for the miracle of new life and the joy that he brings.

Henny Middag was admitted to the hospital and is in Red Deer being treated for gall bladder concerns. We trust in God’s healing grace for her and his gracious care for Tony.

Congratulations to Els Ebens as she celebrates her 84th birthday this Wednesday. We wish you a wonderful day filled with the Lord’s richest blessings!

Do remember our seniors and shut ins in prayer: Tony & Henny Middag, Ann Vander Wal,

Tilly Biel and Lea Dykstra

Remember our missionaries around the world.

Ministry to Seafarers:

This past Christmas season we were once again able to bless seafarers at Christmas time with the distribution of gifts donated to the Ministry's Christmas at Sea project. Not only were we able to distribute thousands of gifts, but also many toques, CDs and DVDs (both music and sermons!) and calendars which you had generously donated. The weather may have been cold and miserable, but the response to the gifts being delivered was anything but. On every vessel they brought expressions of joy and amazement from the crews realizing that people whom they'd never met would go out of their way to make their Christmas away from home a little more joyful. On behalf of the Ministry to Seafarers, as well as each of the individual recipients of the thousands of gifts we were able to hand out, we say a very heartfelt "thank you." Truly, without your generous support the project would not have been possible. In Christ's Name,

Ernst Devries, Chaplain

The Persecuted Church

We received a report this week that Uzbek Pastor Dmitry Shestakov was released from prison last Friday. Praise God! VOM sources report that Pastor Shestakov was released at 3 p.m. local time on January 21st. No official church representatives went to meet him - only two courageous elders from the Andijan Church. Shestakov is the pastor of the officially registered Full Gospel Church. He was taken into custody by secret service officials on January 21, 2007, and accused of "incitement of national, racial and religious enmity" under Article 156 of Uzbekistan's penal code. He had been serving a four-year, work camp sentence. Praise the Lord for Pastor Shestakov's release! Pray he will be reunited with his family, friends and church members and the Holy Spirit will use Shestakov's faithful witness to bring many of his neighbors, friends and even persecutors to Christ (Romans 12:14, 21).
