Our Church Family

As a church family, we would like to say congratulations to Pete and Cora Hoekstra with the celebration of their 25th wedding anniversary this past Tuesday, May 3rd. God has blessed you and your family over the years and we pray he will continue to be with you in the years to come!

Please remember our church family in your daily prayers at mealtimes and during your personal devotions. Continue to remember those young and old with ongoing physical, spiritual, and emotional struggles.

Tony Middag was admitted to hospital with pneumonia. We are thankful to God that he responded well to treatments and is feeling much better.

Els Ebens remained in the hospital this week. She is in good spirits and recovering well. We seek God’s continued presence in her life.

Dear Bethel Congregation, Thank you for the congratulatory messages and gift on the occasion of our 25th wedding anniversary. It is truly a blessing from God to celebrate this occasion and to be part of such a wonderful church community. Pete and Cora Hoekstra

Do remember our seniors and shut ins in prayer: Tony & Henny Middag, Ann Vander Wal,

Tilly Biel and Lea Dykstra

Remember our missionaries around the world.

Summer Preschool Sunday school teachers needed

We are looking for volunteer teachers and helpers for a summer program for the younger children during the morning service for June, July and August. The material is all laid out and will be available to be picked up ahead of time. We ask that each parent of pre-school aged children volunteer to teach one week this summer in order for this program to run. A sign up sheet is located downstairs beside the classrooms, so please volunteer to help out for a week. If no one signs up for a week, Pre-school Sunday school will be cancelled that week.

The Persecuted Church

Ethiopia

On April 21st, four radical Muslims beat an evangelist to death and assaulted his pregnant wife. Evangelist Abraham Abera died on the spot, but his wife, who sustained a severe head injury and was left unconscious on the street, was found and taken to a hospital where she regained consciousness April 22nd. Birtukan's unborn baby fortunately survived the attack. Birtukan said she knew two of the attackers. She said as the Muslims were beating her and her husband, they said, "You are growing in number in our area. You are spreading your message. We will destroy you." The attackers remain at large. A Christian leader in the area said the men may not be arrested because the local officials are also Muslims. The area is 97 percent Muslim. Pray Birtukan will be healed and fully restored to good health. Pray the Lord ministers to her in her grief. Pray her child will grow to understand and love the faith of his/her parents. Pray for the safety of Christians in Muslim-majority regions of Ethiopia, that the Lord would strengthen them to lovingly and boldly proclaim the gospel (Ephesians 6:18-20).
