Our Church Family

Please remember our church family in your daily prayers at mealtimes and during your personal devotions. Continue to remember those young and old with ongoing physical, spiritual, and emotional struggles.

Do remember our seniors and shut ins in prayer: Tony & Henny Middag, Ann Vander Wal, Tilly Biel and Lea Dykstra.

Remember our missionaries around the world.

Bethel News

Next Sunday, November 6th

Elder August Luymes will lead our morning service and our Classical Youth Ministry consultant Ron De Vries will lead the evening service. Pastor Mike & Barb are on holiday in southern Illinois visiting with family for a few days.

Profession of Faith

We thank God for his grace to Patrick Finney, making him desire to publicly profess his faith in Jesus as his Lord and Savior. Patrick has faithfully attended our church and been part of the ministry for the past five years. Pastor Mike worked with Pat to clarify his understanding of the basics of the Christian Faith. Council recognizes that Pat’s faith is sincere and welcomes his profession. The profession is planned for November 13th in the morning service.

Pianists & organists:

just a reminder that the music binders and their pages must not be removed from the sanctuary and the photo copy room. Please photocopy any pages that you need from the binders or borrow a WHM book or Psalter Hymnal from the sanctuary and replace it when the service or your meeting is finished. Pages from the WHM binder have been found several times in the foyer, sanctuary and fellowship hall, far from their home base in the photo copy room. Thank you!

Guess Who is Coming for Coffee.

The Fellowship Ministry Leadership Team is looking at the possibility of starting up this program in the new year. If you would like to take part in this interesting program where you either host some surprise guests or are one of the guests, we would love to hear from you. A sign up sheet is on the table in the foyer. This is a once a month thing where you either have some surprise company for coffee one evening or you go to someone’s house. Only those who do the planning know who will be getting together. A great, fun way to get to know some new people in the congregation! Why not sign up today?

November Newsletter:

In the month of November we spend some time remembering. We are again reminded of how blessed we are in this free land of ours. As we watch the news and read our bulletins we are made aware again of how many people do not enjoy the same freedoms that we have. We will spend a little time on this in the November newsletter. If you have any articles to include on this topic we would love to hear from you. As well, we look forward to hearing from the different groups and ministries as they start up again. We look forward to hearing from the council as well as all the different ministry teams. Please take the time to send us a few lines that we can include so our congregation is informed and able to pray for you. Please place your contributions either in the newsletter mail box or send them by email to any of the following addresses. Please do not send them to the church secretaries. We look forward to hearing from you. Harriet Luymes - haraug@gmail.com , Ann Wildeboer - awildeboer@xplornet.com and Anita Geldof - ahgeldof@shaw.ca.

The Persecuted Church

Chinese police and government officials shut down a Christian student fellowship group in Inner Mongolia, China, and detained its leader in September. Authorities cited "illegal evangelism" as the reason for the ban. Mengfu (Blessed) Fellowship was forced to close and its leader, Liang Guangzhong, was put into administrative detention for 15 days as part of China's ongoing persecution of house churches and Christian groups that meet outside government-approved churches. Officials also confiscated cash from the offering collection box as well as electronics and materials used for teaching. The Mengfu Fellowship has hired a Christian lawyer to formally request a review of the orders. Please pray that the Mengfu Fellowship would be legally vindicated and their fellowship would be restored. Pray their faithfulness will encourage other believers facing similar challenges in the region. Pray that God will raise up many more young people in China to wholeheartedly follow and serve Him.
