Our Church Family

Please remember our church family in your daily prayers at mealtimes and during your personal devotions. Continue to remember those young and old with ongoing physical, spiritual, and emotional struggles.

With thanks to God, Pita and Gerry Doornenbal are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary on May 8. In their love and faithfulness to one another we see God’s gracious care and we wish you a blessed time of celebration.

We wish God’s blessing on Joe and Tracey Elgersman who were married here this past Friday. May God bless your love and commitment for him and for one another.

Do remember our seniors and shut ins in prayer: Albert & Tilly Biel, Lea Dykstra, Tony & Henny Middag, Lena Spelt, Grace Vander Veen and Ann Vander Wal.

Remember our missionaries around the world.

Office Bearer Elections

Are scheduled for today immediately after the morning service. For the office of Elder four men have accepted God’s call through the affirmation of the congregation to serve at this time. They are: Henry Geldof, Herman Scholing, John van Gyssel and Peter Prins. As we need to fill four positions for Elder the vote for these brothers will be an affirmation vote for all four. For the office of Deacon six people have accepted God’s call to serve. The congregation will be asked to vote for two people to fill the two positions available. The names of those standing for office are: Brad Lewin, Jan Rodenburg, John de Regt Jr., Peter Heidelberg, Randall Wildeboer and Rod Duckett. The following is some information for you to review:

· Brad Lewin has his own construction company in town. He and Erin and the children joined us several years ago from Peace River. He has experience in local church ministry and has served in mission work overseas. He helps with the Children’s messages and Erin sings with the Praise Team.

· Jan Rodenburg works for the Penner Farm Service selling automated milking equipment. He and Jolyn live in Bentley.

· John de Regt Jr. works with the family supervising the Truss plant in town. He and wife Angela have one child. John is currently an usher.

· Peter Heidelberg works on the dairy for Arnie Tenbrinke. He and wife Jessica have four children. He has served as a deacon before in B.C.

· Randall Wildeboer works for a satellite TV system installing the hardware in homes in the Lacombe area. He and wife Sue have four children. Randall is a member of EMLT and is currently an usher.

· Rod Duckett works at the Joffre Plant east of Red Deer in various aspects of production. He and wife Laura have two children. He has served as a Deacon before and also helped on OMLT.

Summer Pre-School Sunday school Teachers Needed

We are looking for volunteer teachers and helpers for a summer program for the younger children during the morning service during June, July and August. The material is all laid out and will be available to be picked up ahead of time. We ask that each parent of pre-school aged children volunteer to teach one week this summer in order for this program to run. A sign up sheet is located on the table in the back foyer, so please volunteer to help out for a week. If no one signs up for a week, Pre-School Sunday school will be cancelled that week.

Ladies’ Craft day & Potluck lunch

Will be held this coming Saturday, May 12th in the Council room, starting at 10 a.m. Please contact Ann Wildeboer at 403-782-2061 if you are planning to come.

Persecuted Church

Sudan

There have been several attacks on Christians in recent weeks. On April 21, a church building in Sawafi was attacked by a mob provoked by a radical Muslim leader. Office equipment, library resources, and students' personal belongings were destroyed. On April 18 churches in Al-Baraka, Dar el Salam, and Takamul districts received notice that their properties would be demolished because of lack of structural integrity. Meanwhile, the April 8 deadline for those of South Sudanese origin (many of whom are Christian) to leave Sudan following the secession of South Sudan in July 2011 has been postponed for 30 days. Pray that Christians in Sudan will know the peace, presence and protection of Jesus. Pray that all demolition orders will be officially withdrawn. Please ask God that church leaders will know the Spirit's guidance and wisdom at this time.
