Our Church Family

Please remember our church family in your daily prayers at mealtimes and during your personal devotions. Continue to remember those young and old with ongoing physical, spiritual, and emotional struggles.

We lift Polly Mooy in prayer as she struggles with the realities of depression. May our gracious God lighten the load and bring the light of his love in the darkness.

We give thanks that Tony Middag was feeling better and returned home again this week.

Grace Vander Veen is awaiting a spot in the long term care unit at the Lacombe Hospital. We pray for something to come available in the near future.

Do remember our seniors and shut ins in prayer: Albert & Tilly Biel, Lea Dykstra, Tony & Henny Middag, Lena Spelt, Grace Vander Veen and Ann Vander Wal.

Remember our missionaries around the world.

The Bethel Cadets

Are going camping with other Cadet clubs from Central Alberta on June 1-3, 2012. They will be camping at Cavacade group camping near Nordegg. They will be enjoying campfires, outdoor cooking, team building projects, hiking, and sleeping in tents. Please pray for safety in their travels and fun.

New Church telephone directory!

TODAY you will find a directory page in your church mailbox with the information that we currently have for you. Please do not take these pages home! We ask you to check your information and if it is correct, place the page in the secretaries’ mailbox (lower left corner) or give it to Cindy or Dana (we will be on hand in the foyer after the morning service today.) If changes need to be made to your current information, please note them on the back of the page and then hand it in. Thank you from the church secretaries.

Summer Preschool Sunday school

June 3rd will be the start of our summer program for Preschool Sunday school, so today will be the last Preschool Sunday school class for those children entering Grade 1 in the fall.

Please volunteer to teach a week during either June, July or August. A sign up sheet is located on the table in the back foyer. At this point Sunday School is only being offered for 6 out of the 12 weeks during the summer. If no one signs up for a week, Sunday school will be cancelled that day.

Bethel Newsletter:

Time to start thinking about the June edition of the Bethel newsletter. In June we celebrate Father’s Day and Graduation. We would ask that all those who are graduating from Grade 12 and Higher institutions of learning would please write us a couple of sentences about your plans for the coming year. We will include this in the newsletter so our congregation can congratulate you and pray for you in the coming year as you make your plans. If anyone has something to contribute, honoring their Father, we would love to have it. Please have all your contributions to the newsletter team by Monday, May 28th. We will publish later that week so it will be in your mailboxes on June 3rd. Thanks so much for helping us make a newsletter that is both fun and informative for all our members. Macbeth Off Kilter

The Central Alberta Christian High School Drama 20/30 class invites you to their year-end production of Macbeth Off Kilter. Who says Shakespeare's darkest tragedy can't give you belly laughs? Scotty Macbeth is a high school senior with everything going for him, including a giant ego and a penchant for plaid. When some goth classmates - the weird sisters - convince him that he, not his friend Duncan Morto, should be class president, his ambition leads him down a dark and absurd path of deception and expulsion. (No murder, of course. It's a comedy, after all!) Macbeth's plan is foiled when a hilarious cast of school faculty (including the goofy custodian, Willie, his love interest Nurse Doris and Oprah, the unstable psychologist) team up with a couple of angry expelled "ghosts" and start investigating the troublesome events at Highland High. Macbeth's cheerleader girlfriend and co-conspirator, Sadie MacNutt, cleans her way to total madness as her own guilt finally exposes their evil plot. Complete with witty word play, slapstick action and a shocking twist ending. So, come join us on June 5th, 6th or 7th for an evening of laughs. The doors open at 7 p.m. and the play begins at 7:30 p.m. each night. Tickets are only $10. Give Ann a call at the school at 403-782-4535 to purchase your ticket and reserve your seat soon! We look forward to seeing you there!

The Persecuted Church

Indonesia

Seventeen churches have been forcibly closed in Indonesia's Aceh province following last month's election of a hard-line Islamic governor. Hundreds of Islamic demonstrators gathered and demanded that church buildings be demolished and not just closed. Officials said grounds for the closures included improper permits and a more than a decade-old agreement that stated that only one church and four small houses that function as churches could be built in the entire district. About 12,000 people in the district are Christian -- accounting for about one-sixth of the population, and the number of churches in the area had grown to 22. Please pray that the decisions to close these places of worship will be overturned. Pray that the number of believers in Aceh will continue to multiply. Please pray that Zaini Abdullah, the new governor, and other authorities in Aceh will come to know and love Christ. Pray that believers will be encouraged to continue to meet together despite opposition (Hebrews 10:23-25).
