Our Church Family

Please remember our church family in your daily prayers at mealtimes and during your personal devotions. Continue to remember those young and old with ongoing physical, spiritual, and emotional struggles.

Along with Polly Mooy and Peter and the family we are thankful that Polly was admitted to the Centennial Centre in Ponoka as she struggles with the realities of depression. It was our hope and prayer that room would be available and now she can receive the care she requires. May our gracious God lighten the load and bring the light of his love in the darkness.

We are thankful that Mrs. Alice Scholing has regained enough strength in her leg that she was able to go home this past Tuesday.

Thank you to the congregation for your prayers, visits and cards I received while in the hospital. I am very thankful to the Lord for his healing and strength for the days ahead. Alice Scholing

Lena Spelt was recently transferred from the Senior Lodge to Heartland Manor, just north of Lacombe.

Do remember our seniors and shut ins in prayer: Albert & Tilly Biel, Lea Dykstra, Tony & Henny Middag, Lena Spelt, Grace Vander Veen and Ann Vander Wal.

Remember our missionaries around the world.

Bethel News

Next Sunday, July 1st

Is Canada Day. Along with giving thanks for the good land we live in, we will confront a wrong view of God that feels God is always angry and disappointed in us. In the evening we begin a series of messages on the Canons of Dordt. They very clearly and in a most helpful way, express key biblical truths at the center of our Faith. Pastor Mike will lead our worship.

A Council Social

Is planned for this Wednesday June 27th at the home of Art and Judy Hazelhoff beginning at 6:30 p.m. The Elders are asked to bring salads and the Youth Elders and Deacons to bring desserts. The meat, beverages, cutlery and plates will be provided. Please bring your lawn chairs.

Church Picnic:

The Fellowship Team is hosting our annual picnic on Monday, July 2nd. It will be at the school grounds across from our church parking lot. We will try to eat lunch right at noon or soon after so come any time before that and please bring a salad and a dessert to share. Also bring plates, cutlery, lawn chairs and any toys you would like. There will be new games to try and it will be sure to be a fun time! There is a signup sheet on the bulletin table. Please sign up TODAY. For more information, please talk to Debby van Iperen, Joan, Anita, Marcella, Janneke or Pauline.

Did you know a Large print edition of the bulletin is available? If you have trouble reading the regular bulletin you can request a Large print copy by contacting Cindy or Dana at 403-782-6400 (leave a message if we are not in) or emailing us at bchurch2@telus.net.

Baking Needed!

Circle of Friends would like to have a supply of baking. We need squares, cupcakes, muffins, tarts, cookies, cakes, loafs. The idea is to have serving size portions that can be wrapped. This would take care of desserts for a long time. We now have a freezer in the church to keep them fresh. Items can be brought to the kitchen. Any questions ask Hilda Nowochin or Barb Vandyk. Thank you!

Bethel Newsletter:

The newsletter team has decided to take the month of July off. We will not produce a newsletter for July but will have one again for August. Just one summer issue. So, lots of time to find contributions telling us about your favourite summer activities or memories. Or write a poem in the sunshine and share it with the rest of the congregation. Or perhaps just a song of praise to God our Father for the beauty of life around you. Look for more information about our next newsletter towards the end of July.

Vacation Bible School

Is taking place here in Bethel from August 7-10! All children ages 4-12 are invited to bring a friend to the IncrediWorld Amazement Park, where they will discover the beauty of God’s amazing creation. We are still in need of nursery helpers and additional helpers to guide a small group of kids. Nursery is provided for all young children of volunteers. If you are able to help in any way, please contact Kristin Van Stryland at 403-784-3545 as soon as possible. Thank you so much for your consideration to start this exciting new ministry!

GEMS Camp 2012!

August 13th – 17th at Camp Rehoboth, Gull Lake, AB. We are pleased that a number of girls or staff from this church will be attending Camp. Registrations are complete and, because camp is FULL, we now need one more Cabin Leader and Junior Counselor or two Junior Counselors (entering gr.10 or 11). Can you help? Please watch for the Food lists that have been sent out to Clubs sending girls. We thank you for your prayers and support. Contact Barb Nauta @ 403-652-7078 or abnauta@platinum.ca

Persecuted Church

After being wrongfully imprisoned for two years, Tamirat Woldegorgis returned home to find his two children, ages 6 and 15, missing. Tamirat was falsely accused of desecrating the Qur'an in 2010 and spent two years confined to a small cell with 50 other inmates. The harsh conditions left the Christian widower with one leg paralyzed. Tamirat was arrested after a Muslim co-worker accused him of writing "Jesus is Lord" in a copy of the Qur'an and on some cloth, although no evidence was ever found. "I have been trying to locate my children, but all in vain," said Tamirat. "My life is ruined, I have lost my house, my children, my health. I am now homeless, and I am limping." Tamirat believes that local Muslims in his village may have taken his children to limit his influence in the area. He is now staying with a friend in an undisclosed town. Please pray that Tamirat's children will be located and reunited with their father. Please pray that the Lord will use these troubling circumstances to be a testament to the power of faith in Him, and that this witness will lead others in the community to Christ. Pray that Tamirat will trust that the Lord has plans for him and his family. Plans to give them hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11).
