The Banner:

As members of our congregation, each family should be receiving a copy of our denominational magazine, “The Banner” in the mail. If you do not receive “The Banner” each month and would like to, please contact the secretaries at 403-782-6400 and we will add you to our church subscription.

Bethel Newsletter – Christmas edition

December is coming – and it is time to start thinking about our Christmas edition of the newsletter. As always, we love to receive contributions from the congregation. Do remember that we cannot just copy things out of other magazines due to copyright concerns. If you have something you really would like to share, get it to us as soon as possible, with the original and we will do our best to get the proper permissions. As ministries and groups take a break for the Christmas season, let us know how the first few months have gone and share your joys and prayer concerns with the congregation. Do you take part in a Bible study? Why not share what you are learning there? Thanks so much to all those who help us out with putting together an informative enjoyable newsletter. For the newsletter team – Harriet Luymes and Anita Geldof.

2013 Honduras Water Project:

Now that the weather is getting colder, perhaps your mind wanders to ... Honduras. It’s time to think about being part of the 2013 Honduras Water Project Team. For 18 years teams from Alberta have gone to Honduras for the month of May in order to learn about the Honduran way of life, about international community development, and to put their arms and backs into helping build a water system in a rural village. The Northern Alberta Diaconal Conference (NADC), in partnership with the Micah Centre, The King’s University College and World Renew, invite you to consider being part of this year’s 12-member Honduras Water Project team in the community of La Hoya, Olanchito, in the central highlands of Honduras. The team will be in Honduras during May 2013. For more information about the project and for an application form, please call the NADC at 780-423-0456 or email hbosch@crcna.org.

Persecuted Church

A Christian girl in Jordan was kidnapped by Muslim extremists on October 15th and forced to convert to Islam. The girl is from Fuheis, the only settlement in Jordan that is still predominantly Christian. Jordan's Prime Minister visited Fuheis to help defuse the situation since the town is calling for the return of the girl. He is asking residents to stop protesting and forget about the girl, but residents responded by asking the leader to leave their town. Kidnapping young Christian women and forcing them to convert to Islam is common in Egypt, but it hasn't been prevalent in Jordan. Please pray that this girl will be set free and that the Jordanian government will stand up to defend the rights of all its people. Please pray that the prompt resolution of this situation will serve as a deterrent to all others who may wish to harm Christians. Pray that God will continue to grow His Church in Jordan.
