Our Church Family

Please remember our church family in your daily prayers at mealtimes and during your personal devotions. Continue to remember those young and old with ongoing physical, spiritual, and emotional struggles.

Ernie Stebner has suffered a stroke and continues to be in the hospital. We pray for God’s healing grace to Ernie and Willie at this time.

Thank you so much to everyone for your kind words, prayers, cards, food, and offers of help during and after the fire we had on our farm. We are so blessed to be a part of this Christian community. Words do not seem enough to show our appreciation.

Thanks again, Herman, Betty Scholing and kids

Remember our missionaries around the world.

Next Sunday, December 2nd

we begin the “Season of Advent.” Our Theme is “Longing for More” based on Isaiah 40. Christmas is a time of deep longing for something that fully satisfies. We are overwhelmed by the WANTS and WORRIES of life. We WAVER and grow WEARY. At Christmas Jesus enters in and transforms our lives into profound WONDER. The theme includes a daily devotional booklet which is in your church mailboxes today. We begin by reading from Isaiah 40:1-8 and Matthew 20:20-28 and acknowledge that “We Want.” We will also celebrate the Lord’s Supper. In the evening we turn to Romans 5 as it explains how we are “United with Christ.” Pastor Mike will lead our worship.

Thank you

The Banner:

As members of our congregation, each family should be receiving a copy of our denominational magazine, “The Banner” in the mail. If you do not receive “The Banner” each month and would like to, please contact the secretaries at 403-782-6400 and we will add you to our church subscription.

Bethel Newsletter – Christmas edition:

December is coming – and it is time to start thinking about our Christmas edition of the newsletter. As always, we love to receive contributions from the congregation. Do remember that we cannot just copy things out of other magazines due to copyright concerns. If you have something you really would like to share, get it to us as soon as possible, with the original and we will do our best to get the proper permissions. As ministries and groups take a break for the Christmas season, let us know how the first few months have gone and share your joys and prayer concerns with the congregation. Do you take part in a Bible study? Why not share what you are learning there? Thanks so much to all those who help us out with putting together an informative enjoyable newsletter. For the newsletter team – Harriet Luymes and Anita Geldof.

Persecuted Church

India

In Karnataka state, a mob of about 20 Hindu extremists beat a pastor to unconsciousness. While he was hospitalized with resulting head and neck injuries, as well as broken ribs, the assailants returned the next morning to further harm him. The relentless attacks left Pastor Samuel Kim in serious condition. Guards are now posted outside of his hospital room so he can safely recover. Meanwhile, a Christian-run child-development centre in the state that was accused of forcefully converting Hindu children to Christianity has resumed operations. A local politician levelled the accusations, but the centre re-opened in late October after the Hindu parents of the children who attend the centre met with the accusers and denied allegations. Please pray that the escalation of attacks will cease and that the unreached people will have opportunities to hear the Good News and receive God's salvation. Also pray that those hurt in these attacks will experience complete healing.
