Our Church Family

Please remember our church family in your daily prayers at mealtimes and during your personal devotions. Continue to remember those young and old with ongoing physical, spiritual, and emotional struggles.

We pray for travelling mercies for many family and friends who are travelling at this busy time of year.

Remember our missionaries around the world.

Bethel News

Next Sunday, December 30th

We continue in the Christmas story, reading from Matthew 2:1-18 and “The Coming of the Magi.” We will not have an evening service. We come together instead on Monday, December 31st at 7:00 p.m. for our traditional New Year’s Eve service as we end the year with our gracious God. There will be opportunity in the service to share highlights of God’s grace in 2012. On Tuesday, January 12013 we gather again at 10:30 a.m. for our New Year’s Day service as we begin the New Year in the assurance of our Savior’s leading.

Treasure Seeker Classes

Today, the Treasure Seeker classes will be wrapping Christmas presents for the community Christmas dinner.

A note from the Church treasurer:

We are behind in total budget giving for 2012. If every professing member could spare another $150 for this cause, we would solve the problem. Thank you from August Luymes.

Bethel Newsletter 2013:

As one year ends and a new begins, the newsletter team looks towards the first newsletter of 2013. Please feel free to send in contributions. We hope to produce this newsletter in the first week of January so you will have it in your mail boxes for January 6th. We would really like to have an update from each of our ministry leadership teams to inform the congregation as to how things are going. Your plans, your dreams and your prayer needs. Let us work with you and pray for you as we move into another new year. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to talk to Harriet Luymes or Anita Geldof. We do enjoy putting this newsletter together. It is so great to receive things from the congregation to make it personal and fun as well as informative. We look forward to hearing from you and serving you in this ministry.

Bethel Youth

Tuesday Nite Youth

Has ended for the year. We will be starting up again on January 15th. From the leaders to you, we wish you a wonderful Spirit filled Christmas!

On January 5, 2013 the Cadets will be collecting bottles and batteries.

It will take place at Alen Scholing’s potato storage. Take highway 12 east of Lacombe past Pentagon Farm Centre to 34th Street. Go 2¼ miles south. It is on the west side of the road. If you can drop your bottles and batteries off there between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon that would be great. If you need them picked up call Grant Zuidhof at 403-896-2856. Thank you.

Persecuted Church

Iran

A Christian Pastor from Boise, Idaho has been imprisoned in the notoriously evil Evin Prison in Iran since September. Originally traveling to Iran last spring to start an orphanage, the pastor was arrested for his work with the underground church. Reverend Saeed Abedini was born in Iran but is now an U.S. citizen. Abedini is the leader of a house church movement, a community of underground places of worship for former Muslims, who convert to Christianity and who are not allowed to formally pray in recognized churches. Pray for safety and the release of Pastor Abedini. Pray also for his family in the U.S. Pray for the growing community of Muslim Background Believers in Iran; may they experience peace that passes understanding, even when they have to grow in their faith in secret.
