OUR CHURCH FAMILY

Pease remember our church family in your daily prayers at mealtimes and during your personal devotions. Continue to remember those young and old with ongoing physical, spiritual, and emotional struggles.

Our family of the week is Brad & Erin Lewin, along with their children, Cassie, Westley & Kenny. Please keep them in your daily prayers.

Congratulations to Hilda Van Stryland with the celebration of her birthday on May 6th. May you be blessed with a special day with family and friends and in the year to come.

Celebrating God's faithfulness in 25 years of marriage, the children of Marvin and Jeanne Ebens invite the congregation to an open house on Saturday, May 18th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Westling Hall on Milton Road east of Lacombe.

Remember our missionaries around the world.

Operation Manna:

We invite you to give generously! Today, the deacons will gather in the Operation Manna offering. Your gift will help ministries and Canadian CRCs become involved with their neighbors in Jesus’ name. May each of us give as we have been blessed.

Next Sunday, May 12th

we celebrate Ascension Day as the risen Lord Jesus takes his place on the throne in heaven. It is the Coronation of the King. We read from Psalm 2, the Coronation Psalm. In the evening service we fully take hold of the “Assurance of Christian Hope” as it is expressed in the beautiful words of Romans 15. Pastor Mike will lead our worship.

On Sunday, May 19th

we celebrate Pentecost and we have the privilege of witnessing the Public Profession of Faith of Megan Scholing, Heather Van Stryland and Brianna Venhuis as they respond in faith to the Holy Spirit’s work in their lives. We will also celebrate the Lord’s Supper together.

A reminder about the Sermon Evaluation Forms:

Pastor Mike will be attending a preaching conference in Grand Rapids in July. As part of the course the congregation is asked to fill in sermon evaluation forms. Our church secretaries have placed forms in mailboxes representing a range of church members (young/old, men/women). Please take some time to fill in the form and return it to Cindy Prins by TODAY, May 5th. She will mail them in to Rev. Scott Hozee who leads the conference.

PERSECUTED CHURCH

SOMALIA:

On April 13th, members of Al Shabaab ended the life of 42-year-old Fartun Omar, a Christian mother of five. Fartun's husband Siad, who was also a believer, had been previously killed by gunmen on December 8, 2012 for converting from Islam. According to reports, the militants were searching for Fartun for several months because they were opposed to her quiet Christian faith, which she tried to keep discrete in this hostile environment. It was while attempting to flee the city that this mother of five had been captured and then mercilessly shot to death. Please pray for Siad and Fartun's surviving children...that they would experience the comforting and loving presence of Jesus during this time of heartbreak and trauma. Despite the tragedy of suddenly losing both parents, may the Lord work out His good plans in each of their lives. Also pray that He will defeat the destructive plans of the Al Shabaab militants, bringing them to justice, repentance and salvation.
