OUR CHURCH FAMILY

Pease remember our church family in your daily prayers at mealtimes and during your personal devotions. Continue to remember those young and old with ongoing physical, spiritual, and emotional struggles.

Congratulations to Albert Biel with the celebration of his birthday on May 17th. May you be blessed on your special day and in the coming year.

Ann Vander Wal remains in the Lacombe Hospital recovering from her broken arm. They are trying to stabilize her diabetes and then they will see if she can return home to the Lodge.

Albert Biel remains in the Ponoka Hospital as he waits for a bed to come open in a nursing home in this area.

Remember our missionaries around the world.

Celebrating God's faithfulness in 25 years of marriage, the children of Marvin and Jeanne Ebens invite the congregation to an open house on Saturday, May 18th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Westling Hall on Milton Road east of Lacombe. Please bring your own lawn chairs.

Bethel News

Next Sunday May 19

We celebrate Pentecost and we have the privilege of witnessing the Public Profession of Faith of Megan Scholing, Heather Van Stryland and Brianna Venhuis as they respond in faith to the Holy Spirit’s work in their lives. We will also celebrate the Lord’s Supper together. In the evening we conclude our study of the Letter of Romans with the closing greetings of chapter 16 as it shows how a wide variety of people both women and men are used by God in the church. Pastor Mike will lead our worship.

Election of Office bearers

Brad Lewin and Jack Oudman were wonderfully supported in their call to serve as Elders. All three nominees for youth elder had good support but Curt Dowling was elected. For the caring diaconal work of mercy Cora Hoekstra and Ann Wildeboer were elected. We give thanks to God and pray for the leading of the Holy Spirit as they take up the Lord’s work in this church.

PERSECUTED CHURCH

SYRIA:

As the situation in Syria continues to deteriorate, an estimated 7 million Syrians are in need of humanitarian assistance. Syrian Christians suffer not only from the humanitarian and political crisis but also from anti-Christian persecution in a country that is 90 percent Muslim. ‘Voice of the Martyrs’ workers and others have been notified of an International Day of Prayer and Fasting for the Syrian Church to be held on Saturday, May 11, 2013. Syrian churches from all denominations will be unified in seeking God for mercy on their country. They are asking Christians worldwide to join them by praying for divine protection of the Church in Syria. What a privilege it is to unite our hearts together with believers from around the world, including our Christian brothers and sisters in Syria, regarding this critical situation. In the midst of the war, suffering and persecution, may God somehow make His presence and power known among the various people groups of this very troubled land. May the "Prince of Peace" bring comfort to the multitudes who are grieving loss and heartache, healing to the wounded, and salvation to the spiritually lost.
