OUR CHURCH FAMILY

Please remember our church family in your daily prayers at mealtimes and during your personal devotions. Continue to remember those young and old with ongoing physical, spiritual, and emotional struggles.

Shirley Bos was in the University Hospital in Edmonton for tests for her heart. She is now at home awaiting more tests. We pray for God’s blessing of healing for her.

Tilly Biel has moved to the Royal Oak residence here in Lacombe. Her new address is #215 4501 College Avenue, Lacombe, T4L 2M8. The phone number is 403-789-9114. Albert Biel is still in the Ponoka hospital, waiting for his long term care placement, hopefully in Lacombe. We pray that God will be with the Biels as they go through yet more changes in their lives.

Please make the following address additions or changes to your church directory:

Steve & Caroline Ogi, 5138 52 St., Lacombe, T4L 1H9 Steve phone – 403-896-2408, Caroline phone – 403-896-1321.

Krista Prins 5265 Chester St., Vancouver, B.C., V5W 3B1

Melanie Wierda (fiancée of Grant Zuidhof), #1 – 5124 46 Ave., Ponoka, T4J 1J4 phone – 783-3242.

Dear Bethel Congregation,

Thanks so much for your loving care & prayers for Shirley. The results from Edmonton at the University Hospital with the angiogram were very positive; the bypasses were all clear and open.
Further tests & therapy will be needed for easier breathing and intake of oxygen.
Our sincere love, John & Shirley Bos!

Remember our missionaries around the world.

Bethel News

Next Sunday, June 9th

We begin a Summer Worship Series. We plan to take some of the key aspects of the life of David as we find it in the books of Samuel and Kings. David’s life story offers truths for our Christian life. David’s life was not easy. He relied on God in every situation. As we honestly engage with scripture around the life of David it helps strengthen our faith and points us to the saving work of God in Jesus. We begin by reading 1 Samuel 16 where David is anointed by Samuel. In the evening we turn to Proverbs 4 as it helps us “Get a grip on Life” by seeking wisdom. Pastor Mike will lead our worship.

We are looking to get more youth involved in worship ministry. We want all of our young singers and instrumentalists to come for a few evenings to play music with other young musicians. These will be low pressure events as the goal is to build experience playing worship music in a group setting and to find some team chemistry. There is a bright green sheet on the table in the foyer; if you are interested, please put your information on the sheet so that we can get an idea of how many youth are interested.

PERSECUTED CHURCH

SIERRA LEONE:

150 new believers were baptized recently in the village of Kaboreh, and 80 of them are converts from Islam. ' Voice of the Martyrs' has provided bicycles, motorbikes, megaphones and Bibles to further equip the Christian leaders of this village, and the results of the partnership in prayer and outreach have been astounding. The believers of this village are grateful that many of their former persecutors have come to faith in Christ. Among the new converts are four village chiefs, all of whom were formerly Muslim. As a result of their conversions to Christianity, the few remaining Muslims have announced that they will no longer obey the newly converted chiefs. However, we can be assured that God's power is still at work in this community as His Word reminds us that He is "not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9). While we can rejoice over this wonderful news, it's important for us to pray that these new believers will continue to trust in the Lord and not be pressured to return to Islam. May they grow strong spiritually, becoming solidly rooted in their new faith. Please also pray for God's ongoing protection and anointing upon the evangelists who are faithfully serving there in Sierra Leone. May there be more phenomenal church growth as a result.
