Remember our missionaries around the world.

Bethel News

Next Sunday, June 30th

we see David waiting patiently in faith for God to make him King and we are reminded how we often need the same patience as God’s will works itself out in our lives. In the evening we confront the reality of anger and how to deal with it wisely from Proverbs 16. Pastor Mike will lead our worship.

To all Past and Present Council Members:

The secretaries ask that you to bring your “Council Handbook for Leaders” to the secretaries’ office (brown binders). We need to update them, so please bring them back as soon as possible.

Bethel Newsletter - - Apology:

The Newsletter team would like to apologize to Colin Duckett, Heather and Jordan Van Stryland and Tracey Elgersman for our oversight. In our last Newsletter we recognized all our graduates from grade 9, grade 12, and higher education. We inadvertently forgot to mention a few people. Colin Duckett graduated from grade 9. Colin, we wish you the best as you go forward into high school. Heather Van Stryland graduated from grade 12. She plans to attend Mt. Royal University in Calgary to study Massage Therapy. Jordan Van Stryland graduated from Olds College with a diploma in Agricultural Management. He plans to work at home as well as starting up his own custom spraying operation. Tracey graduated from the Nursing program at the University of Calgary and is looking for work here in Central Alberta. Congratulations to Tracey, Heather, Jordan and Colin on their accomplishments. May God bless you and guide you as you follow your dreams for the next year and on into life.

Newsletter News:

Please note that we are taking a break from producing the newsletter for the month of July. We will have an August edition in the beginning of August. Be sure to save up some stories of your summer experiences to share with us. Perhaps you tried a new recipe out camping and it was a great hit. Why not tell us about it? If you are taking in some special workshops and such, please be sure to share that with us so we can pray for blessing and praise in these things. Harriet Luymes and Anita Geldof.

BETHEL YOUTH

Youth Summer Games

All Junior Youth, Young Peoples, Young Adults and those who are “Young at Heart” are invited to five Sunday evenings of competition following the evening service. Our first event will be a soccer game on June 23rd. These events will take place every second Sunday evening and refreshments will be provided for all participants. For any questions, contact Evan Scholing at evanscholing@gmail.com.

Youth Worship & Praise

We are looking to get more youth involved in worship ministry. We want all of our young singers and instrumentalists to come for a few evenings to play music with other young musicians. These will be low pressure events as the goal is to build experience playing worship music in a group setting and to find some team chemistry. There is a bright green sheet on the table in the foyer; if you are interested, please put your information on the sheet so that we can get an idea of how many youth are interested.

PERSECUTED CHURCH

INDIA:

A Christian man was beheaded in India, on May 25th for refusing to renounce Christ. Tapas Bin, 35, had been under pressure from his father-in-law to abandon Christianity. Tapas married Jentuly, the daughter of 55-year-old Gobinda Jamatiya, three years ago. Since the marriage, Gobinda had been pressuring Tapas to abandon Christianity and join his tribal religion. When Tapas persistently refused, Gobinda decided to kill his son-in-law. Jentuly, mother of a one-year-old child, told police that her father did not recognize their marriage and had pressured Tapas to convert. "My father might kill me and my son too," she fearfully admits. An area church leader states, "Christians are facing discrimination and problems because of their faith in Christ. We have ceased all kinds of Christian activities in the area." Pray for God's protection over Jentuly and her son, as well as all Christians in that area. May Tapas' grieving family and friends experience the comforting presence of Jesus during this difficult time. Please also intercede for the perpetrators of this crime...that they would sincerely repent, turn from their wicked ways, and come to know the saving grace of our Lord Jesus.
