OUR CHURCH FAMILY

Please remember our church family in your daily prayers at mealtimes and during your personal devotions. Continue to remember those young and old with ongoing physical, spiritual, and emotional struggles.

The families of Alana Ebens and Justin Babcock would like to invite the congregation to their wedding ceremony at 1:30 pm on Saturday, July 27th. The blessed event will take place on the yard of Ken and Judy Poffenroth. If the weather is not agreeable, the wedding will take place here at Bethel CRC.

Pastor Mike is attending the “Preacher’s Oasis” in Grand Rapids this week as part of his continuing education. In case of special needs please contact the elders.

Congratulations to Harry Van Stryland and Lillian Mercier with the celebration of their birthdays on July 25th. May you both be blessed with a wonderful day on your birthday and in the coming year.

Remember our missionaries around the world.

Bethel News

Vacation Bible School

Another season of Vacation Bible School is quickly approaching! This year our theme will be SONWEST ROUNDUP where kids will get to know Jesus as they ride the trail through the Old Testament stories of Moses. We are looking for volunteers. We are planning to run the VBS from August 6-9 (Tuesday-Friday). If you are willing and able to share your gifts, talents and time this week we are still in need of a couple teachers to teach the preschool-kindergarten age group as well as the grade 1-2 age group. We are also in need of helpers, babysitters, decorators and somebody to coordinate the crafts. There are signup sheets on the table in the foyer that can be returned to the Summer Ministry Coordinator mailbox. Please prayerfully consider helping out with VBS this year- we would love to see this program continue in our church! Thank you and we look forward to another great week of VBS!

Next Sunday, July 28th

Wayne Bouwman will lead our morning worship and Pastor William Delleman from Sonrise CRC in Ponoka will lead our evening worship.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Looking to help those in need due to the floods in southern Alberta?

At the moment there are two options to give financially. One is to send funds to World Renew and mark the checks "Spring Storms 2013" and the other is to send money directly to High River CRC church and designate the money for "High River CRC- flood relief" for the church to use as they see fit within the High River church and community. The address of High River CRC is 450 Macleod Trail, High River, AB, T1V 1B5. If people want to volunteer, call the Alberta NGO Council Volunteer Call in Center (1-866-628-6565) which is coordinated by Samaritan's Purse in Calgary. When you phone say you are volunteering with World Renew - Disaster Response Services when asked what agency you want to volunteer through.

PURSECUTED CHURCH

Egypt:

Reports of attacks on Christians began to surface just hours after the Egyptian army announced that it had removed President Morsi from office on July 3rd Angry hard-line Muslims have attacked churches and Christian property. One minister narrowly escaped with his life when rioters set fire to his church. Thankfully, concerned Muslim neighbours hid him from the mob. Worst hit was Naga Hassan village. Rioting on July 5th resulted in the deaths of four believers and the destruction of dozens of homes. Police asked Christians in the village to leave their homes until peace is restored. Church leaders in the Cairo area were also told to be on the lookout for cars with certain license plates, due to the threat of car bombs. The murder of a church leader in northern Sinai on July 6th is also linked to reprisal attacks by Morsi's supporters. Pray that God will protect and sustain His people in Egypt amid the mounting unrest. May they be reassured by the reality of His presence while weathering this raging political and spiritual storm. Ask that through His mighty intervention, there will be an end to the violence that has engulfed the country and many of its innocent citizens. May a wise solution be granted to help steer the nation to a place of unity and peace.
