OUR CHURCH FAMILY

Please remember our church family in your daily prayers at mealtimes and during your personal devotions. Continue to remember those young and old with ongoing physical, spiritual, and emotional struggles.

Remember our missionaries around the world.

Bethel News

Next Sunday, August 25th

We think about those who we are obliged to care for as we reflect on 2 Samuel 9:6-13 and consider “The Mephibosheth’s of Life.” In the evening we read from Proverbs 30 and “The wisdom of Agur” to make a list. Pastor Mike will lead our worship.

Sermon Podcasts:

In case anyone misses a Sunday service, our sermon podcasts can now be heard on iTunes and on the homepage of our Bethel website at www.lacombebethel.org

Carpet Cleaning Days! Wednesday, August 21st and Tuesday, August 27th

On these two days the carpet cleaners will be here in Bethel. On Wednesday they will be doing the downstairs and Tuesday the upstairs. We ask that you NOT enter the building during the day to let the workers do their job without disruption. Thank you

Pre-School and Kindergarten Sunday School:

We are in need of teachers for our program, and we will be starting Sunday, September 8th. If you feel the call for this worthwhile ministry please contact Jessica Heidelberg for more information.

Bethel Newsletter

As summer rolls along, the newsletter team – Harriet Luymes and Anita Geldof – are finding time for a newsletter to be a bit difficult. We apologize for not getting a newsletter out for the summer. What with family commitments and summer holidays and such, it just hasn’t happened. BUT – we certainly are not quitting. We plan to have the next edition in your mailboxes for August 25th. We look forward to hearing from the congregation. Tell us about your summer. Write us a bit about “What I Did this Summer”. We love to hear from all ages. Of course, back to school goes along with this time of year, so perhaps you want to tell us about what you are looking forward to in the new school year. Different ministries get started in September – tell us your plans. How can we support, encourage and most of all pray for you. If you wish to have something included in this newsletter please have it to Harriet or Anita no later than Tuesday, Aug. 20th at noon. Looking forward to hearing from you and working for you again, as the months go by.

PURSECUTED CHURCH

Egypt’s

Christian population is growing immensely, now encompassing 12.83% of the nation’s population. In light of recent political divisions, propelled by the ousting of president Mohammed Morsi, Egyptian Christians are susceptible to violence on a daily basis. Pray that God will deliver Egyptian Christians from fear at this dangerous time. Please pray that God will comfort the families and friends of the victims.Pray that Egyptian Christians will not be embittered towards their adversaries, but instead will “love [their] enemies and pray for those who persecute [them].” (Matthew 5:44).Also pray for the perpetrators. Pray that they will be brought to justice, and that God will speak to their hearts.
