Bethel News

Next Sunday, September 1st

in the morning we read from 2 Samuel 23 where it lists “David’s Mighty Men” of valor who helped him in his service of God. We reflect on how we use our various strengths to serve God together. In the evening we read from Proverbs 31 and seek to understand why Proverbs ends with a lengthy description of “The Wife of Noble Character.” Pastor Mike will lead our worship.

Sermon Podcasts:

On August 17th, rebel gunmen shot dead 11 Christians and wounded three more in central Syria. 200,000 Christians have fled the city of Aleppo. Many moved to Damascus, Lebanon, or some Western countries where Syria’s Christians tend to integrate easier than Muslims. Syrian rebels have repeatedly shelled Christian neighborhoods. The opposition Free Syrian Army claims it strikes only government targets, but constant shelling of the civilian quarter suggests otherwise. The terrorists are not shooting at the army, they are intentionally aiming for civilians, trying to push the Christians out of this area (Damascus). Over the past year many Christians have fled. Some who remain say they fear the rebels are aiming to achieve “ethnic cleansing”. Pray that these suffering Christians may know God's peace in their hearts. May God's Spirit work through them to reflect God's love - even for their attackers. May their witness touch cold hearts.
