Council Nominations:

Once again it is time to consider Council nominations. This year we have two deacons (Bindert de Jong and Rick Wildeboer) a Youth Elder (Rod Venhuis) and two elders (Art Hazelhoff and Donald Wildeboer) completing their terms.

Who is eligible for nomination? All office bearers are given a minimum two year break between terms of service. Those who are therefore ineligible are: Wayne Bouwman, Wilf Ebens, Henry Eisses, August Luymes, Bryan Noordhof, Paul Prins, Terry Vandenborn, Craig Van Stryland and Darran Vreugdenhil. Women are eligible for the position of deacon. You do not need to speak with each person you nominate and you can nominate as many people as you feel are qualified. The district elders will officially approach people with the appropriate amount of nominations.

The present Council members are: Bindert de Jong, Curt Dowling, Rod Duckett, Brad Lewin, Henry Geldof, Art Hazelhoff, Pete Heidelberg, Cora Hoekstra, Gerald Noort, Jack Oudman, Peter Prins, Herman Scholing, Andrew Tenbrinke, Pastor Mike Vandyk, John van Gyssel, Rod Venhuis, Ann Wildeboer, Donald Wildeboer and Rick Wildeboer.

An actual nomination form will be given to you on Sunday, March 2nd during the offering and collected as you leave the sanctuary. At that time you fill in the names of those you feel are gifted to serve. Those who cannot be present on March 2nd can make other arrangements to submit their nominations. If you have questions please contact Peter Prins. In the weeks preceding the nomination we seek the Lord for his guidance in this process. Council deeply appreciates your prayerful consideration on this matter.

Church mailboxes:

The secretaries have made some changes to the church mailboxes and as a result many of them have been moved. Please double check that your name is on the mailbox before removing any mail or papers. Thank you from Dana and Cindy.

The General Administration Leadership team

would like to remind the congregation that all fire exits and especially the fire exit and hallway in the fellowship hall should be kept clear of items. The fire exit hallway is not to be used as storage for broken tables and chairs, etc. The furnace rooms must also be kept clear of any extra items. Broken tables can be left with the other tables leaning against the wall in the fellowship hall. Please contact a GALT member (Art Hazelhoff, Walter Land, Ina Jackson, August Luymes, Rick Wildeboer or Cindy Prins) if something is broken or needs to be repaired in the church. Thank you from the General Administration team.

A 35 year old recent convert to Christianity, and his 11-year-old son were brutally murdered by members of the FARC guerrilla group. They leave behind a pregnant wife and 3 girls. In the region where this happened, Christians face strong persecution from the guerrilla groups who forbid them to preach the Gospel in rural areas. The family has been moved to another city. The pastor who leads the church received a letter from the FARC, stating, "You must leave the region or you'll die." Let us come alongside this mourning widow and her daughters in prayer, asking God to grant them mercy and grace in their time of need (Hebrews 4:16). Pray that they will be safe in their new location, and supported by fellow Christians. May the threatened pastor seek Godly wisdom as he continues to lead his congregation. Also intercede on behalf of the FARC guerrillas who perpetrated this horrible crime, that they, will come to faith in our Risen Lord.
