OUR CHURCH FAMILY

Please remember our church family in your daily prayers at mealtimes and during your personal devotions. Continue to remember those young and old with ongoing physical, spiritual, and emotional struggles.

The Deacons

Would like to take this opportunity to thank all those that so faithfully have participated in providing a meal for Circle of Friends. A special thank you to the coordinator Hilda, all the cooks and aids, all those that help set up and clean up and for all of you that donated meat, produce and baking for the meals that are served every Thursday here at church. The deacons encourage everyone to lend a helping hand if you are able. At the moment +80 meals are served, so if you can help out with cooking or assisting, your help will be greatly appreciated, the cooks are responsible for a meal about every other month. There is a real need for helpers to come in at 4:00pm to set up and than stay for the clean up, so if you have some time to help please let us know. Donations of meat, garden produce and baking/dessert is always a pleasant welcome. If you are able and willing to help out in any one of these areas or have questions please contact Hilda (403-782-6435) or Ann (403-782-2061).

From the General Administration Leadership team:

Margaret Roolker is the new church janitor, starting the beginning of June. Our former janitors, Marsha Span and Rob & Julie Span have decided to move on with other things. We are very thankful for their faithful service to us as a congregation and the wonderful care they gave to our church facilities over the last few years.

We are looking for more PowerPoint operators

to help during our Worship services. If you are going into Grade 9 this coming fall or you are older and would like to help out, please give Cindy Prins a call at 403-748-2824 or email to bchurch2@telus.net

From the Coffee Break group:

Something to consider over the summer months is this request from Coffee Break. After many faithful years of helping, Audrey Noordhof has asked to be replaced as nursery help. PERSECUTED CHURCH

UGANDA & KENYA:

Security has increased in recent days in Uganda and Kenya after authorities were warned by Western countries that an Islamic militant group is planning to attack churches. The U.S. embassy in Uganda warned that churches there may face "specific threats" from al-Shabaab, a Somalia-based militant group. The threats against the two East African countries are said to be due to each having peacekeeping troops in Somalia. "All the churches have been informed. The anti-terrorist police and police board in Uganda are providing security to the churches. Al-Shabaab has vowed to eradicate all Christians in Somalia, and they have especially targeted converts from Islam. In April, a young Christian woman was dragged outside her home and killed by a group of armed men. As our brothers and sisters face these intimidating threats, pray that they will not lose heart. Instead, may they entrust themselves completely to our Lord, confident in the work of His Holy Spirit to guide and protect them. Ask God to grant wisdom to authorities and security personnel as they work to shield church buildings from attack in these countries. Please also keep in prayer the members of al-Shabaab, asking God to move in their hearts so that they will cease their violence and believe in Him.
