2014-07-20 July 20 Bulletin

Please remember our church family in your daily prayers at mealtimes and during your personal devotions. Continue to remember those young and old with ongoing physical, spiritual, and emotional struggles.

We continue to remember the Swier and Dowling families, as well as their extended families, as they mourn the loss of Simon Swier. May they experience God’s nearness and comfort.

We pray for Gerry Doornenbal. As Gerry’s health has declined, let us ask the Lord that He would be near to Gerry and Pita, and provide suitable and sufficient care for Gerry.

Happy birthday to Harry Van Stryland and Lillian Mercier! Both will be celebrating their special day this Friday. Congratulations too to Nelly Keitel who will be celebrating her birthday on July 28th. May our Lord continue to richly bless you all in the coming year!

From Pastor Charles and Heather Van Hoffen: We now have a new phone number, please take note: 403-782-2134.

Dear Bethel Family. What a joy it is to be back among you! We are so blessed to have a warm and welcoming church family to return to. And what a special surprise to arrive in our new home and find the fridge, freezer, and pantry amply stocked with good things from so many of you! We are truly grateful for your generosity and thoughtfulness. Please feel free to come by for a visit! We're at 5036-57th Street and our phone number is 403-782-0252. Mark, Selina, Luke, and Levi Patterson

Do remember our seniors and shut-ins: keep Albert & Tilly Biel, Klaas Boskers, Leah Dykstra, Ernie Stebner and Grace Vander Veen in your prayers.

Pray for our missionaries around the world.

International Camporee: We thank God that He has made this event possible. Thank God for the godly men who have volunteered their time to orchestrate this event. We also thank Him for calling men as counselors and godly examples for the young boys. Pray that God would powerfully work during the week of the camporee, and that all would be kept safe. Above all may God enable the gospel to go out so that the boys and men will grow closer to God.

Pray that we would have a hunger for God’s Word, and that God would use it to transform our hearts and lives.

Pray that Bethel would be a loving and caring community. May we be a praying community that prays for each other. Ask that we will pray at all times and in all circumstances.

Authorities destroyed a church building in Khartoum, on June 30th. The previous day, officials interrupted the church service and announced the demolition. The government had intended to destroy the church since 2012 to make way for the construction of a hospital. However, although the church building was levelled, a mosque on the same plot of land was allowed to stand. Christians in Sudan have come under increasing pressure since the secession of South Sudan in January of 2011. In April of 2013, the government announced that new church licenses would no longer be issued. Since then, the destruction of church buildings has continued. Pray that this congregation will soon acquire a new building for worship and to meet for fellowship, praising God for His faithfulness. As Christians throughout Sudan face increasing pressure, pray that the Holy Spirit will strengthen their resolve to proclaim Him as Lord of all and follow steadfastly in His ways, leading to a mighty revival in this area of the world.
