2014-08-10 August 10 Bulletin

Please remember our church family in your daily prayers at mealtimes and during your personal devotions. Continue to remember those young and old with ongoing physical, spiritual, and emotional struggles.

Ed Moller, Dana van Gyssel’s father, continues to heal at the Red Deer hospital. It has been a long 3 months and for the near future he will continue to receive treatments and rehabilitation as he learns to be mobile without one of his legs. Please pray that Ed continues to heal clean, learn to be mobile and patient. For the rest of the Moller family we ask for peace.

Congratulations to Alice Scholing and Fenny Stegerman as these ladies celebrate their birthdays on Tuesday. Pearl Meindersma will be celebrating her special day on Thursday. To each of you we pray for a wonderful day filled with lots of love and laughter. May our Lord continue to richly bless you into your new year!

Carina & Andrew Tenbrinke family covet your prayers as Carina has found a kidney transplant match in her brother. They are scheduled to proceed with the transplant for October 1st. They are asking for many prayers as they prepare for this operation.

Heather Van Stryland and Leroy Otten plan to be married D.V. this coming Friday, August 15th at 3:00 p.m. They invite the congregation to join in the celebration of their marriage.

From Pastor Charles:

We don’t want to say goodbye yet … but I guess I am trying to get used to the idea now. In only seven days, we will be leaving our beloved Lacombe, Alberta. In our short time here, Bethel has become our church home, our church family. You are our brothers and sisters. It never seems quite right to say good-bye to your family. But I know that you are in the Lord’s hands, and we will see you again – here or in our glorious eternity. I cherish the relationships that I have been blessed with this summer, and wish that they could continue in person. My one regret is that I couldn’t get to know more of you.

In the meantime, I have one more week. One more week to visit a few more of you. One more week to dwell in the Word of God and prepare two more sermons. I wonder what God’s message for Bethel will be next week! It has been really exciting seeing God at work, leading and equipping me. I have also been blessed learning how God is meeting you in your time of need, and hearing your testimonies of faith. I am honoured and humbled that God has called me to this amazing calling!

Do remember our seniors and shut-ins: keep Albert & Tilly Biel, Klaas Boskers, Leah Dykstra, Ernie Stebner and Grace Vander Veen in your prayers.

Pray for our missionaries around the world.

Dear Friends, Today we extend to you an urgent appeal. The widening Ebola crisis in West Africa is claiming lives daily. A state of emergency has been declared in Liberia, and the World Health Organization has declared the Ebola outbreak in West Africa a Public Health Emergency of International Concern. World Renew is working with local partners in Sierra Leone and Liberia to respond to the virus, which has already killed over 900 people and may spread further unless the necessary precautions are taken to contain it and prevent further transmission. Support World Renew's response today. Your gift will make it possible for World Renew to educate communities in regards to how Ebola is spread, how to prevent it, how to recognize the symptoms, and what to do if one has the symptoms. Protective equipment will be provided to medical centres and essential medicines will be provided to families. Please pray for those who have contracted the Ebola virus and for those at risk of doing so, that they may receive the immediate medical care and attention they need in all of the affected countries. Pray for a swift and effective response by the international community to contain this terrible disease. Pray for World Renew and its staff and partners who are dealing firsthand with this virus and the people it has affected. In Christ, Wayne de Jong Director of Disaster Response & Rehabilitation

Brothers andSisters, please continue to pray strongly and earnestly for Iraq and the protection of the nation against the ISIS killers there. Many brothers and sisters in Christ are still in grave jeopardy. The ISIS has attacked churches and raised their flags on churches; and call upon their gods inside our churches. There was a massive exile as the Kurdish army have left their positions and fled for their lives. Families, trying to find some shelter covered streets; schools and parks. All churches' grounds have been occupied with families, hence people walked out leaving everything, just fleeing for their lives. In Sinjar, they kidnap young girls and women and sold them as slaves. Kids and seniors died of thirst and hunger on the mountains.
