OUR CHURCH FAMILY

Please remember our church family in your daily prayers, at mealtimes and during your personal devotions. Continue to remember those young and old with ongoing physical, spiritual, and emotional struggles.

Our Family of the Week is Carina & Andrew Tenbrinke, Jayde & Tessa as they prepare for Carina’s Kidney transplant surgery October 1st . The donor is Carina’s brother Ryan Green. His wife is Nicole and they have three girls, Taylor 6, Melody 3, and Cadence 2. We pray with thanks for the gifting of the kidney and trust God’s blessing through the surgery and beyond in Carina’s recovery.

We pray for Ryan and Ashley Salomons and their family as they fly to Ukraine September 28th to take up the work of youth ministry and church planting in that troubled country. Ken and Trudy are joining them to help them settle in.

Curt Dowling will be having back surgery this week (25th) to repair a herniated disk. We pray that God bless the work of the doctors to restore him to good health.

We give thanks that Willie Stebner could return home again. We continue to pray for Gerry Doornenbal as he remains in the Lacombe hospital.

Do remember our seniors and shut-ins: keep Albert & Tilly Biel, Klaas Boskers, Lea Dykstra, Ernie Stebner and Grace Vander Veen in your prayers.

Pray for our missionaries around the world.

Bethel News

Next Sunday, September 28th

We read Jesus’ parable of the Prodigal son from Luke 15:11-32 and hear God’s word as “The Younger Son: Leaving and Returning.” In the afternoon we have our first suggested sermon topic based on Matthew 24:3-28, “Are we living in the End Times?” Pastor Mike will lead our worship.

Are you interested on being on a Praise Team or are you currently on one now?

The Worship Ministry Leadership Team would like to invite you to a luncheon TODAY! Sunday, September 21st after the morning service to discuss music and songs as we fellowship over lunch! Please consider joining us! If you have any questions, please contact Sue Wildeboer or Marcella Van Stryland.

From Pastor Mike:

Sermon Topic/Text Suggestions - Last week in your mailbox you found a yellow paper asking you to submit sermon topics/texts for me to preach on. Please give this your prayerful consideration and along with the Worship MLT we will work your requests into the schedule throughout this church year in both services. You can place your suggestions in my mailbox.

Second Service Time Survey

Last week found a simple survey in your mailbox regarding our second Sunday service. Please fill it out and add any comments you might have and return it to the secretary’s mailbox by September 28th so that we can review the results at our September 29th meeting. Thank you – Worship Ministry Leadership Team

It’s time for a new Church Directory!!

Next Sunday, September 28th there will be church directory sheets in your mailboxes. Please look over your information and make additions or deletions. Cindy & Dana will be available to receive your sheets, PLEASE DO NOT take them home.

Plan to Protect® Child/Youth Registration and Consent Forms:

In your mailboxes and located on the table in the foyer you will find two forms. For every Child/Youth (0-17 years) who takes part in any group or study here at Bethel CRC needs a consent to be given for them to take part. On these forms it mentions any medical concerns we need to know about, and asks for consent to use photos for promotional materials (newsletters, Facebook, brochures, etc.) Child forms would be used for 0 through 12 years of age and Youth will be for 13 through 17 years of age. A form is needed for every child or youth. Please pick up your forms and place them in the secretaries’ mailbox as soon as possible. Any questions or concerns please contact Dana van Gyssel.

Bethel Newsletter

The autumn season is here and with it comes a new season of Bethel newsletters. We are hoping the congregation will be full of ideas and contributions for this next season. October’s issue will be in your mailboxes on October 5th. Our focus will be Thanksgiving and we look forward to what you have to share with the congregation in this newsletter. Please consider the title page, a story of your life history, a favourite recipe, a poem, or a book review. Perhaps a write up about your particular situation in life and how the congregation has been a blessing, or what we need to learn in order to be a blessing. Please have your piece in to Harriet Luymes of Anita Geldof by September 30th. Our goal is that the newsletters will be informative, interesting, a safe place to share and a way in which we can lift each other up in prayer as the community of Jesus Christ.

PERSECUTED CHURCH

IRAN

Three Christian men, Matthias Haghnejad, Silas Rabbani and Behnam Irani, were recently charged with "spreading corruption on earth," an offense that may be punishable by death. The new charges appear to be part of a surge in repression targeting religious and ethnic minorities under the country's leader, President Rouhani. Sources claims that all three men, who are being held separately at Ghezal Hesar Prison in Karaj, have been pressured into confessing that they are "spies." Lift up these three believers in prayer. May they each be acquitted of the charge and freed to return to their loved ones. Pray that God will use them in a powerful way to minister to fellow prisoners and guards who do not yet know Jesus Christ personally. Please also intercede for Iran's president and other governing authorities.
