Please keep our family of the week, Peter & Gerry Prins in your daily prayers. We pray that God will be with them as a family.

Congratulations to Lea Dykstra with the celebration of her birthday this coming Wednesday. May God be with you in a special way on your birthday and in the coming year.

We, the Moller family (van Gyssel and the Playfords’) extend a heartfelt thank you to Bethel for your thoughts and prayers during Ed Moller’s illness and then passing. Family is more than immediate and we are very thankful for the extended family of Bethel church.

Bethel News

Next Sunday, November 2nd

Is World Hunger Sunday. Building on the excellent family devotions you received, we take the theme of Psalm 34:8 “Taste and see that the Lord is good.” In the afternoon we begin another series of WE intergenerational Events (6) looking at the central biblical concept of “Covenant” first demonstrated in the life of Noah. Pastor Mike will lead our worship.

A covenant is an unshakeable promise. Learn about the covenant promises God makes to Noah, to Abraham, to His people at Mount Sinai, and to us through Jesus, the Lord's Supper, and the Holy Spirit. Join us as we begin a new WE Series, “The Unshakable Promise” on Sunday, November 2, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. We will conclude the event with a potluck supper. Please bring a main dish and a salad. Prayer Request from Northern Iraq

Missionaries who are in the areas that are being attacked by ISIS are asking to be showered in prayer. ISIS has taken over the town they are in today. ISIS is systematically going house to house to all the Christians and asking the children to denounce Jesus. So far not one child has. So far all have consequently been killed, but not the parents. The UN has withdrawn and the missionaries are on their own. They are determined to stick it out for the sake of the families, even if it means their own deaths. They are very afraid, have no idea how to even begin ministering to these families who have had seen their children martyred. Yet they know God has called them for some reason to be His voice and hands at this place at this time. Even so, they are begging for prayers for courage to live out their vocation in such dire circumstances. And like the children, accept martyrdom if they are called to do so. These brave parents instilled such a fervent faith in their children that they chose martyrdom. Please surround them in their loss with your prayers for hope and perseverance.
