Please remember our church family in your daily prayers, at mealtimes and during your personal devotions. Continue to remember those young and old with ongoing physical, spiritual, and emotional struggles.

Our person of the week is Joanne van Gyssel. Please keep her in your prayers, remembering the challenges she faces and the joy she brings to others in her daily life.

Congratulations to Bill Noordhof with the celebration of his birthday this coming Thursday. May God bless you with healing and bring comfort and joy as you celebrate your special day with your family & friends.

Congratulations to Keith and Carolyn Giesbrecht with the birth of their son Cayden Rodney last week Thursday. We give thanks to God that all is well and rejoice with you in this precious gift of new life.

Do remember our seniors and shut-ins: keep Albert & Tilly Biel, Klaas Boskers, Gerry Doornenbal, Lea Dykstra, Ernie Stebner and Grace Vander Veen in your prayers.

Pray for our missionaries around the world.

Bethel News

Next Sunday, November 30th

We begin our Advent season in preparation for Christmas. Our theme this year is “Prepare the Way” from the Gospel of Luke, chapters 1 & 2. Here we see God active in love. He is both near and among us still. The first believers are often called followers of “The Way.” We need to live “the way” Jesus wants us to live, glorifying God. We begin reading from Luke 1:1-25 and the story of Zechariah and Elizabeth. “In their waiting God is near.” In the evening we turn to another great prayer of the Bible, that of Eliezer, as he is sent by Abraham to find a wife for Isaac from Genesis 24:1-24. Pastor Mike will lead our worship.

*Local Church: Bentley Community Church & Pastor Greg Rathjen

*Classis Alberta North: Covenant CRC in Edmonton & Pastor John Pasma

*Denominational: World Renew: Iraq - Northern Iraq has been besieged by violent conflict as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) has been forcing people to either convert to its extreme brand of Sunni Islam or die. Please pray for World Renew and our local Christian partner as we continue to respond to the desperate needs of Iraqi minorities who have been persecuted because of their faith.

Dutch Cheese Orders Are Back!

Once again Bethel GEMS are taking orders in support of their programming. You will find an order form in your mailbox, so please place your form into Wannetta Brander’s mailbox by TODAY, November 23rd. The orders will be ready for pickup from church on December 7th. Thank you for your support!

All Bethel members are encouraged to attend the Fall Congregation Meeting

of our church this coming Thursday, November 27th at 7:30 p.m. We will be looking at the proposed Budget for 2015 and Pastor Rick Abma will speak about Neighbourhood Life.

Deacons' Christmas Luncheon:

The deacons will be having a Christmas luncheon following the morning service next week in the Fellowship Hall. For all those invited, if you haven't yet RSVP'd, please talk to either Ann Wildeboer or Cora Hoekstra. We look forward to a wonderful time together.

World Renew Gift Catalogs

were recently placed in your mailboxes. Please take a moment to look through the catalog and consider doing something different this Christmas with your family. Maybe for $22 you would like to buy a baby weighing scale for people in Bangladesh. Infants who are underweight or malnourished early in life can be hampered by weakened physical health, poor brain development, and a shortened life span. Through World Renew's growth monitoring programs, parents in places where few health services are available receive training in nutrition, hygiene and health awareness. Your gift of a baby weighing scale provides parents and local health volunteers with the vital information they need to help babies thrive.

Community Christmas Dinner - Volunteers

Bethel is once again hosting the Community Christmas Dinner on Christmas Day through the Outreach Ministry Leadership Team. This year it will be held in the Centennial Hall at the Lacombe Memorial Centre. We are looking for 10 volunteers for food preparation on Christmas Eve Day from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. We will need volunteers all day on Christmas Day for a variety of tasks. Would you be willing to be in charge of the food heating and preparation that day? How about leading the singing of Christmas carols? Would you play the piano or another musical instrument? Could you open with Christmas devotions and prayer? Please phone Cora Hoekstra at 403-782-5107 if you would be willing to help with any of these tasks. It is always a joy and a blessing to be involved with this event.

Community Christmas Dinner – Desserts:

It is estimated that between 20 and 30 Christian girls or women are kidnapped each month as part of a years long campaign to convert as many Christian women as possible to Islam. With the upward trend in these abductions, safe houses are critical for protecting Christian teenagers and young women, and safe house ministries face strong opposition from Islamist groups. Pray for the abducted girls; may they experience Jesus’ nearness while taken away from their families. Pray for the families who live in constant fear about their daughters. May the safe house ministries be able to reach many of these girls, rescue them and help them through Christian love to overcome their hurting experiences. May the Christian witness in Egypt bring a change in the Islamist culture.
