Please remember our church family in your daily prayers, at mealtimes and during your personal devotions. Continue to remember those young and old with ongoing physical, spiritual, and emotional struggles.

Our family of the week is Darran & Gayle Vreugdenhil and their children, Ethan, Rachel, Jason & Taylor. Please keep them in your daily prayers, asking God to bless them as a family and thanking him for their work for our church.

To our church family – thank you so much for all you did for us since Bill hurt his shoulder. Bringing us meals for some weeks, the phone calls, the many cards and most of all your prayers. We thank the Lord that Bill’s shoulder and arm are getting stronger and for blessing us with each new day. Great is His faithfulness. May God bless our Bethel church family!

Bill & Audrey Noordhof.

Do remember our seniors and shut-ins: keep Albert & Tilly Biel, Klaas Boskers, Gerry Doornenbal, Lea Dykstra, Ernie Stebner and Grace Vander Veen in your prayers.

Pray for our missionaries around the world.

Back to God Ministries International - Pray for the Chinese Today ministry team as they meet in Hong Kong today. As they celebrate 25 years of providing this devotional guide for Chinese believers and seekers, they will also share with readers how the Lord is leading the ministry into a new phase—going paperless. Pray for the ever-expanding ways in which God’s Word is reaching mainland China through social media and online outreach.

The 2015 Christian Reformed World Missions calendars

are in your mailboxes today. If you are in need of extras please feel free to take another one or two. The calendars are located on the table in the foyer.

Bethel News

Next Sunday, December 14th

we have the privilege of witnessing God’s grace to Cayden as Keith & Carolyn Geisbrecht present him for baptism. We continue our Advent series reading from Luke 1:39-59 where we see that “God shows us his favor.” In the evening we will have our annual Candle Light service. Everyone attending will receive a candle and we will move from light to darkness and back to light again. Pastor Mike will lead our worship.

Kid’s Corner Advent Calendar:

Christmas is the celebration of the greatest gift ever given by God—His Son Jesus Christ. The word “advent” has a Latin origin meaning “coming toward.” Download the Kids Corner Advent Calendar to teach your child the amazing significance of Christmas, the coming toward of the Christ-child through daily Bible verses and stories. Prepare their hearts for the joy of His coming, and encourage thankfulness, worship, and service with daily disciple activities through the entire season of advent. Download it free. Look for it under "Free Stuff" at www.kidscorner.net.

An Invitation to All Ladies! Coffee Break is having a Christmas Social

on Wednesday, December 10th from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. We will have an opportunity to give a gift to third world mothers and their babies through World Renew. Bring an item from your past or present that has a story that you’d like to share. Please also bring a sweet or savory snack. Contact Barb Vandyk for more information.

The Youth Mission team

needs one more female leader to go along on their trip during spring break 2015. The group will participate in the Urban Outreach-Mission Adventures program at Y.W.A.M. in Victoria. The dates are Friday, March 27th to Saturday, April 4th, 2015. If you are interested or need more information, please call Gerry at 403-782-4170.

Plan to Protect® Attendance forms:

I would like to thank all leaders and teacher in the various children and youth ministries here at Bethel for keeping track of our attendance records. It helps me greatly with keeping things in order and prepared. I do however have a few items to mention:

· Please date all forms. If not dated, the form is useless.

· Teachers and helpers please sign after your printed name, as to signify you were that day’s leader.

· Parents please remember to sign your child in and out as to signify that you did so.

Over the course of November there were a few forms missing but as time passes this process will happen instinctively. If anyone has any questions about anything to do with the Safe Church Policy please contact Dana van Gyssel.

Circle of Friends

continues to be blessed with 50-70 people served each Thursday. Through the food and fellowship many people are encouraged in the love of Jesus. Hilda Nowochin has been our key leader in this ministry for the past few years and has done a wonderful job. At this time she needs to step back due to changes in her and Ron’s work situation. That means we are looking for one or two people to consider taking over the leadership of this ministry. There are also some changes in terms of people able to cook a meal and so we are also seeking people willing to take one evening every two months to cook. If you have questions or can help out please talk to Ann Wildeboer at 403-782-2061 or Martha Warner at 403-782-5780.

Community Christmas Dinner - Volunteers

Bethel is once again hosting the Community Christmas Dinner on Christmas Day through the Outreach Ministry Leadership Team. This year it will be held in the Centennial Hall at the Lacombe Memorial Centre. We are looking for 10 volunteers for food preparation on Christmas Eve Day from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. We will need volunteers all day on Christmas Day for a variety of tasks. Would you be willing to be in charge of the food heating and preparation that day? How about leading the singing of Christmas carols? Would you play the piano or another musical instrument? Could you open with Christmas devotions and prayer? Please phone Cora Hoekstra at 403-782-5107 if you would be willing to help with any of these tasks. It is always a joy and a blessing to be involved with this event.

Community Christmas Dinner – Desserts:

Are you willing to make a dessert for the Christmas Day Dinner? Please let Cora Hoekstra know if you can help out in this way.

In June 2009, Asia Bibi was arrested on allegations of blasphemy against Mohammed. In November 2010 she was sentenced to death. In 2011 two ministers have been assassinated after speaking out against Pakistan's blasphemy law. Meanwhile Asia Bibi remained in prison, being sick and in pain she was transferred to a prison five hours away from her family. "My prison cell has no windows, and day and night are the same to me," states Asia. "But if I am still holding on today, it is with thanks to everyone who is trying to help me." On November 24th a second appeal was filed in the Supreme Court of Pakistan. As Asia's situation raises international concern, please continue to uphold this sister of ours, realizing that the prayers of God's people have been greatly sustaining her. Let us pray for His strength, protection, peace and unfailing presence as Asia and her family await the outcome of yet another appeal.
