2015-01-11 January 11 Bulletin

Please remember our church family in your daily prayers, at mealtimes and during your personal devotions. Continue to remember those young and old with ongoing physical, spiritual, and emotional struggles.

Our family of the week is Jack and Ann Oudman. Please keep them in your daily prayers, asking God to bless them and remembering the work they do in our church.

We wish John Stol a very happy birthday today! May your day be filled with the Lord’s richest blessings and into your new year.

Do remember our seniors and shut-ins: keep Albert & Tilly Biel, Klaas Boskers, Gerry Doornenbal, Lea Dykstra, Ernie Stebner and Grace Vander Veen in your prayers.

Pray for our missionaries around the world.

*Local Church: Church of the Nazarene – Pastor Bob Tattrie

*Denominational: World Renew – Disaster Response Services. Praise God that in 2014 World Renew’s Disaster Response volunteers were able to assess the needs of 59,442 North American disaster survivors and to repair or rebuild 438 homes. Pray that God will continue to equip World Renew to reach out to those devastated by disaster.

Bethel News

Next Sunday, January 18th

We begin a series of sermons entitled “Celebrations of Faith.” We read Matthew 14, and see how “Jesus builds faith in us for doing his work.” In the afternoon at 4:00 p.m. we have a WE Event. The theme for these interactive worship times is “God’s Covenant” and this service focuses on God’s covenant of Grace with Abraham. Pastor Mike will lead our worship. After the WE event we will enjoy a potluck supper together. This time we plan to have a soup and bun supper, so please bring either soup or buns to share. The Fellowship Leadership Ministry Team will look after dessert.

Community Christmas Dinner:

Thank you to Bethel Congregation for your support of the Community Christmas Dinner. Thank you to those who volunteered their time either for food preparation or for serving the day of the dinner. Thank you for the wonderful desserts. They helped make the meal very festive. About 170 people enjoyed the meal and we pray they were blessed through this event.

A pocket bible was found in the foyer. If you are missing one, please contact the secretaries to identify and claim it.

Since ISIS began its terror raid on Mosul and surrounding area, thousands have fled. Many Muslims are open to the Gospel now because those who have responded with aid are Christians from the West. Through these caring practices many hearts are open to the Gospel like never before. Also the brutality of the Islamic terrorists has caused Muslims who do not support this group to turn away from Islam and instead place their faith in Jesus of the Bible. Praise God for the ways in which He is moving in Iraq, despite the horrors inflicted upon the people by ISIS. Pray that the Lord will equip many "labourers" for this harvest to encourage and disciple the growing church. As you intercede for the country of Iraq, ask that the plans of the militant group be thwarted and that the establishment of God's peace and stability will instead prevail for all of its people.
