OUR CHURCH FAMILY

Please remember our church family in your daily prayers, at mealtimes and during your personal devotions. Continue to remember those young and old with ongoing physical, spiritual, and emotional struggles.

Our family of the week is Ralph & Pauline Bos. Please remember them and their extended family in your daily prayers.

Do remember our seniors and shut-ins: keep Albert & Tilly Biel, Klaas Boskers, Gerry Doornenbal, Lea Dykstra, Lillian Mercier, Ernie Stebner and Grace Vander Veen in your prayers.

Pray for our missionaries around the world.

PRAYER ITEMS

*Local Church: St. Andrew’s United Church – Pastor Ross Smillie

*Classis Alberta North: Ponoka Sonrise CRC – Pastor William Delleman

*Denominational: Canadian Ministries – Centre for Public Dialogue. As soon as we think of another human being or another group of people as less valuable or worthy, we open the door to evil. The CRC is digging into the Doctrine of Discovery, a set of church declarations that called Indigenous people and anyone outside of the Christian faith less than human. Abba, help us to be alert to the ways we deny your image in our sisters and brothers. Teach us to love our neighbors.

The Banner

is the official magazine of the Christian Reformed Church and it is available free to every church member. Are you getting your copy? It is filled with stories of how the CRC is ministering here in North America and around the world. There are also interest and opinion pieces plus theological reflection. If you do not receive The Banner please let our church secretaries know and they will get you signed up to have it mailed to your home.

The Bible, Homosexuality and the Church Community:

The conversation in the church surrounding homosexuality is one of controversy and sensitivity. What is it? How does Scripture speak to us about it? How can we as congregations have conversations together? How do we live together as communities embracing all whom Christ redeems? On Thursday, January 29th at 7:30 p.m. Pastor Neil De Koning will join us here in the fellowship hall as we look at the various aspects of the discussion in order to have better conversations and common life as congregations.

PERSECUTED CHURCH

VIETNAM:

Pastor Nguyen Hong Quang and his associate pastor, were attacked with bricks and rocks by five men near their Bible college on January 18th. After collapsing they were kicked relentlessly. Pastor Quang sustained broken ribs & facial wounds, including a broken nose and injuries to his teeth and jaw. He was transferred to hospital for treatment and observation. No arrests have yet been made. Pastor Quang and his Bible college have been targeted multiple times within recent years. Please pray fervently that the Lord will heal and restore these pastors. As they recover, ask God to strengthen their resolve to stay committed to their ministry work, granting them and all those affiliated with the Bible college divine protection from further attacks. Remember the perpetrators of this crime, asking the Lord to extend His mercy and bring them to sincere repentance.
