2015-02-08 February 8 Bulletin

Next Sunday, February 15th

We continue our series of sermons entitled “Celebrations of Faith.” We will be reading from Matthew 18 where Jesus speaks of “Faith to Forgive.” We will also be partaking of the Lord’s Supper, remembering that God in Jesus forgives us. In the evening we read from 2 Samuel 7 and “David’s humble prayer.” Pastor Mike will lead our worship.

Please remember our church family in your daily prayers, at mealtimes and during your personal devotions. Continue to remember those young and old with ongoing physical, spiritual, and emotional struggles.

Our family of the week is Gerald & Nelly Keitel. We thank the Lord for them and will keep them in our daily prayers. Nelly recently went through shoulder surgery on Friday. We pray for healing and comfort in the coming weeks.

Today we say farewell to Mark and Selena Patterson and their sons, Luke and Levi as they are returning to China this week. We give thanks for the months that they could be with us and we ask for God’s blessing on their travels and on their continued work and life in China.

Do remember those who are unable to worship regularly with us: please keep Albert & Tilly Biel, Klaas Boskers, Gerry Doornenbal, Lea Dykstra, Lillian Mercier, Ernie Stebner and Grace Vander Veen in your prayers.

Pray for our missionaries around the world.

GEMS CAMP 2015:

Hello Gems and parents! Normally, this is the time of year when preparations begin for GEMS Camp. As many of you may already be aware, the facility that we rent each year is owned by Rehoboth Christian Ministries. This summer, Rehoboth is undertaking a complete rebuild of their kitchen/dining hall facilities at the camp location. Because of this, they have made the decision to not make their facility available for rent. After scouting unsuccessfully for an interim facility in which to hold GEMS camp this year, we have had to make the difficult decision to not offer a GEMS camp for the summer of 2015. We know this will be a disappointment to the girls that are already excited to attend, and especially for the oldest girls who would be missing their last year of camp. We have decided to extend the age limit by one year for the 2016 GEMS Camp to accommodate these girls. GEMS Camp will resume the week of August 8-12, 2016.

Pastor Joshua Adah, a Christian father of two young children was slain on January 23rd in Taraba State by Fulani herdsmen and Boko Haram members, after visiting several villagers as part of an evangelistic outreach. Kenya: A Christian 25 year old man was shot just outside a church gate in Mombassa after he was mistakenly identified as the church's pastor. The pastor had been followed over the past months and is in hiding now. Assailants are members of an active Islamic terror cell. Indonesia: On January 15th a militant Islamic group in Sulawesi killed three Christian men in separate attacks. Pray for all these grieving families. May God somehow use these senseless attacks for His glory and higher purposes, drawing many others, especially young people- to faith in Him. Pray that loved ones -and we- may be able to forgive and intercede for the militants.
