Neighbourhood Life update:

Will Christian Reformed Home Missions and World missions become one? This past week The banner wrote an article entitled, "One World, One Mission" Last week, the boards of Christian Reformed Home Missions (HM) and Christian Reformed World Missions (WM) instructed their directors, under the supervision of CRC executive director Steven Timmermans, to explore the feasibility of bringing together the two ministries into one agency with both a local and global vision and mandate. The agency directors have been asked to prepare a detailed plan of the steps required for such a significant structural change. As the pace of globalization has increased, the distinction between the mission fields of the two agencies has been shrinking. Aware of this fact, the boards of both agencies had instructed their directors in September 2008 to collaborate on specific projects in areas of ministry where HM and WM could serve together without regard to geographic boundaries." (read more at http://www.thebanner.org/news/2015/02/one-world-one-mission).

As this becomes an increasing realization, Neighbourhood Life is pleased to have learned that World Missions has been asking the same two questions addressed to believers who live as neighbours to each other: 1) If Jesus was in charge of the neighbourhood in which we live, what would it look like? and 2) What do we need to do to get there? PERSECUTED CHURCH

India:

Police in India's capital have arrested hundreds of Christians, who claim that five churches in New Delhi have been attacked over the past two months as religious intolerance continues to grow. Five churches have been attacked since St Sebastian's Church in East Delhi was burned on December 1st. Since the Hindu nationalist Party took over India's national government in May 2014, attacks on Christians and their places of worship have escalated dramatically. Pray for the swift release of the Christians arrested during the demonstration. Pray that Christians in India will continue to make a stand for the Gospel and proclaim it boldly. Pray for the Christians affected that they will exemplify the love of God through consistent love and prayer for those who persecute them (Matthew 5:43-48).
