2015-06-14 June 14 Bulletin

Please remember our church family in your daily prayers, at mealtimes and during your personal devotions. Continue to remember those young and old with ongoing physical, spiritual, and emotional struggles.

Family of the Week: Grace Vander Veen. Please keep the oldest member of our church in your daily prayers remembering her as she lives in the Royal Oak facility.

Congratulations to the Roolker family as Ashley and Derek Stingel welcomed Kayla Danielle Rose into their family. She weighed 8 lbs 1 oz. Everyone is doing well and healthy.

Congratulations to Dave Moniuk as he celebrates his birthday today. May our Lord continue to bless you richly in your new year!

Do remember those who are unable to worship regularly with us: please keep Albert & Tilly Biel, Klaas Boskers, Gerry Doornenbal, Lea Dykstra, Lillian Mercier, Ernie Stebner and Grace Vander Veen in your prayers.

Pray for our missionaries around the world.

Bethel Newsletter

Another three months have flown by, and in those three months we have celebrated Mother’s Day and Senior’s Week. We look forward to celebrating Father’s Day and school graduations yet in June. So, it is natural that our next newsletter be due out for the first Sunday in July. We are always very grateful for contributions from the congregation. So, please consider what you might be able to send our way. If you or someone in your family is graduating from grade 9, grade 12, College or University please let Harriet Luymes know. Please hand in your contributions to either Harriet Luymes or Anita Geldof by Tuesday, June 30th, or place them in the newsletter mailbox in the foyer. Thank you!

The Spirit of Plan to Protect®

is a one hour free webinar for users of Plan to Protect®. This is an opportunity to have a conversation on how to unleash and communicate the true spirit of the work and resources they have to offer. Together we will gain insight on a renewed perspective of Plan to Protect®. The principles of Good, Better, Best and avoiding the Bad will be set out for our discovery. If you are interested in watching and having a conversation about the program you are invited to join in. The webinar will be set up here in the fellowship hall on Wednesday, June 24th at 10 a.m. It will be recorded and can be viewed at a later date if this is more to your liking. Please contact Dana if you are interested.

VBS needs YOU!

We are looking forward to an amazing year at VBS this August 10th to 14th, but we need YOU to make it happen. Anyone who has finished grade 5 or higher can help. We need a ton of Crew Leaders (no prep, just show up and keep your group of 5 interested and involved), as well as several teachers for the different stations (Bible story, a science experiment station, games, a movie center, snacks, and opening/closing sessions) as well as a photographer. Check out the bulletin board at the bottom of the stairs to see a more detailed listing of what we need. Then contact Erin Lewin, Steeve Sainte, or sign up on our website -- www.groupvbspro.com/vbs/ez/LacombeBethelCRC

Local Church:

First Baptist Pastor Rob Klingbeil

First CRC Rocky Mountain House - Pastor Len Batterink

Synod meets at Dordt College in Sioux Center Iowa this week. Our own Deacon Cora Hoekstra is attending Synod as a special Deacon adviser. Though not an official delegate, she along with 6 other deacons from churches across North America have the privilege of the floor to comment or ask about anything being discussed from a deacon perspective. Also at this Synod one of the main items to be discussed is the official delegation of deacons to Synod. Right now only Ministers and Elders are delegated from the 46 Classis of the CRC.

Young Adults:

Baseball season is almost upon us and this has made a few of us think about green grass, warm sunshine and catching a few fly balls out on the baseball diamond. This summer come on out for a fun event called the CRC Grand Slam Slo-Pitch Invitational. Get your church group co-ed slo-pitch team together for this first ever tournament being held on the weekend of July 10th -12th at the Clymont Recreational area (near Devon, Alberta on Highway 60). The cost per team is $220.00. There is camping available on site for those who would like to camp near the diamonds. If you have any questions regarding this event or would like to register a team, please contact Ron deVries by email at rc.devries1@gmail.com or text/call 780-619-6566
