OUR CHURCH FAMILY

Please remember our church family in your daily prayers, at mealtimes and during your personal devotions. Continue to remember those young and old with ongoing physical, spiritual, and emotional struggles.

Family of the Week: Craig & Marcella Van Stryland and family. Please keep them in your prayers.

We pray for Jake Prins as he received a pacemaker this week. We trust that this helps to regulate his heart and sustain him in good health in God’s grace.

Congratulations to Ray Merkus, Dorothy Meindersma and Rena DeRuiter as they celebrate birthdays this week. To each of you we pray that your special days are filled with love, laughter and our Lord’s richest of blessings in your new year!

Do remember those who are unable to worship regularly with us: please keep Albert & Tilly Biel, Klaas Boskers, Gerry Doornenbal, Lea Dykstra, Lillian Mercier, Ernie Stebner and Grace Vander Veen in your prayers.

Pray for our missionaries around the world.

Schedules:

Copies of the July, August & September schedules have been inserted in your church boxes this week. If you serve as an Usher, Lift operator, Greeter, Coffee host, Nursery attendant, Sound tech, PowerPoint operator, Musician, Song leader, Children’s story leader or Bible reader we ask that you note when you are scheduled to participate. With July and August upon us we realize that there may be scheduling conflicts but we ask that you do your utmost to trade with someone if that is the case.

Nursery:

With less of our children in the nursery right now we have now scheduled two adults and one young person for the AM services – we do NEED EVERYONE to be there as we may have visiting children in the nursery. For the PM services we do need people to show up in case we have someone in the nursery. Thank you!

A Note to All Council Members:

Please return your council handbook binder to the secretaries. You can leave them in the council room and we will update them for the new season.

Bethel Newsletter:

Another three months have flown by, and in those three months we have celebrated Mothers’ Day and Seniors’ Week. We look forward to celebrating Fathers’ Day and school graduations yet in June. Our Family Newsletter will be out for the first Sunday in July. We are always very grateful for contributions from the congregation. So, please consider what you might be able to send our way. If you or someone in your family is graduating from grade 9, grade 12, College or University please let Harriet Luymes know. Please hand in your contributions to either Harriet Luymes or Anita Geldof by Tuesday, June 30th or place them in the newsletter mailbox in the foyer. Thank you!

If you are interested in watching and having a conversation about the program you are invited to join in. The webinar will be set up here in the fellowship hall on Wednesday, June 24th at 10 a.m. It will be recorded and can be viewed at a later date if this is more to your liking. Please contact Dana if you are interested.

VBS needs YOU!

We are looking forward to an amazing year at VBS this August 10th to 14th, but we need YOU to make it happen. Anyone who has finished grade 5 or higher can help. We need a ton of Crew Leaders (no prep, just show up and keep your group of 5 interested and involved), as well as several teachers for the different stations (Bible story, a science experiment station, games, a movie center, snacks, and opening/closing sessions) as well as a photographer. Check out the bulletin board at the bottom of the stairs to see a more detailed listing of what we need. Then contact Erin Lewin, Steeve Sainte, or sign up on our website -- www.groupvbspro.com/vbs/ez/LacombeBethelCRC

PERSECUTED CHURCH

Nigeria

More than 1.5 million Nigerians (many of whom are Christians) have been displaced by the nearly six-year Islamist (Boko Haram) uprising in Nigeria's northeast, which has already taken the lives of an estimated 13,000 people and caused tremendous anguish for countless more. In recent weeks, 46 civilians have been killed by the group. Pray that the Lord will frustrate the plans of Boko Haram so they will fail in their continued attempts to perpetrate violence against Africa's innocent victims. May all those who have suffered at the hands of this militant group be spiritually, physically and emotionally healed.
