From the Pattersons: Thanks so much for supporting us on our trip in your prayers. We stayed healthy and connected with everyone on our list plus a few others we hadn't even known were around. We were sustained emotionally and spiritually in a very dark place. In seven days in Lhasa, we got together with a total of 38 people. We were able to bring God near in every interaction! Sometimes it was as simple as giving thanks for a meal shared together. At other times, it was a complete explanation of the hope we have. In every case, it was a reconnection into the lives of people we love. Thanks again for going with us. We were strengthened, protected, sustained, and blessed. What a joy to be members of one another! Mark, Selina, Luke and Levi Next Sunday’s offering will be for support of the work of the Gideons International in Canada. The Gideons International In Canada is an association of Christian men and women who share God’s Word with effective and engaging forms of Scripture—reaching people everywhere with the Gospel through personal witness and partnership with the local church. In Canada Bibles or New Testaments are placed free of charge in common areas where people will find them and begin to read them: hotels, prisons, hospitals, extended care facilities, seniors’ homes, assisted living facilities, medical waiting rooms, clinics and other similar institutions. They are also handed out to students, health care workers, military personnel, police officers, prisoners, and the general public at special events. The Gideons partner with local churches in Canada and around the world, sharing God’s Word and communicating the gospel message to people of all ages and walks of life. Next Sunday, August 16thwe build on the theme of our exciting VBS week “Conquering Challenges through God’s Mighty Power.” We hear God’s word from Phil 3:7-21 and learn how we are to “Hold on as Jesus holds on to us.” See if you can invite a friend or neighbor to the service. In the evening God call us to be “A missionary People” as we read from Isa 28:9-29. Pastor Mike will lead our worship.

Pastors Jesus Renteria Calderon and Evelia Holguin are visiting here in Alberta from our sister church, Fuente de Vida (Fountain of Life) in Ensenada Mexico. We have sent many mission teams there to help build the church and build homes for people in the neighborhood. Now they are able to and encourage us. They are visiting the three main supporting churches here. The schedule is for them to be at Clive Baptist church on Aug 9th at Christ’s Corridor church in Red Deer on Aug 16th and with us here at Bethel on Aug 23rd. We trust God will bless them and make them a blessing. From Margaret Njuguna. I will be visiting the States – mainly for training on disability matters at Elim Christian Services in Chicago. While there I will visit a few friends but I will not make it to Alberta this time round. Elim Christian have training programs every year and hopefully they will invite me in 2016 – and if that happens, I will be able to come and visit the congregation and friends at Bethel CRC. Meanwhile, I thank God for all you for being part of a very transforming and humbling ministry and I will continue to be a faithful servant and will continue to share updates with you all. Thank you so much for your prayers and financial support. Do remember those who are unable to worship regularly with us: please keep Jenny Bajema, Albert & Tilly Biel, Klaas Boskers, Gerry Doornenbal, Lea Dykstra, Lillian Mercier, Ernie Stebner and Grace Vander Veen in your prayers.
