OUR CHURCH FAMILY

Please remember our church family in your daily prayers, at mealtimes and during your personal devotions. Continue to remember those young and old with ongoing physical, spiritual, and emotional struggles.

Congratulations to John Bos as he celebrates his birthday today! May our Lord continue to bless you today and into your new year. J

Dear Bethel Family, Thank you for all your prayers, visits and cards. After 71 days at the Lacombe Hospital I am glad to be at home. I continue to do physiotherapy at home. Visits at the house are much appreciated. Alice Scholing

Do remember those who are unable to worship regularly with us: please keep Jenny Bajema, Tilly Biel, Klaas Boskers, Gerry Doornenbal, Lea Dykstra, Ernie Stebner and Grace Vander Veen in your prayers.

Pray for our missionaries around the world.

The Meaning of Marriage:

A Vision for Married and Single People by Pastor Tim Keller.

Pastor Mike will be offering a six session DVD study on marriage on Sunday evenings beginning October 2nd. Pastor Keller serves a Redeemer Presbyterian church in New York. He brings a clear biblical understanding to marriage. He challenges modern assumptions of selfishness in marriage. In this study Tim along with Kathy, his wife of forty years, draws a profound portrait of marriage from the pages of Scripture that neither idealizes nor rejects the institution but points us back to the relationship between God and man. The result is a vision for marriage that is refreshingly frank and unsentimental, yet hopeful and beautiful. This study is for anyone from singles to couples considering marriage to those who have been married recently or for a long time. The six sessions are:

October 2 - Service: Marriage Isn't about You

October 16 - Covenant: Created to Make Promises

October 30 - Roles: Loving through Mutual Submission

November 13 - Singleness: Strengthening the Spiritual Family

November 27 - Sex: The Act of Covenant Renewal

December 11 - Hope: Seeing the Great Horizon

A note from the Church Treasurer:

Just a reminder to ALL Ministry Leadership teams and groups that your projected budgets for 2017 need to be given to August Luymes by October 9, 2016. Thank you!

Council Highlights: September 14, 2016

1. Pastor Mike read the Charge to the Elders and Deacons.

2. Pastor Mike suggested a possible marriage enrichment course for Sunday evenings until Christmas. He would love some feedback on this concept. Possibly an alpha marriage course or a program by up by Tim Keller. It would also be a great idea to invite friends or neighbors.

3. Full council approved a motion to support the Neighborhood Life Proposal lead by Rick Abma for the next three years. We will support the project with $10,000 in 2017, $8000 in 2015 and $6000 in 2019 with opportunity to re-evaluate after each year.

4. We discussed the Church Renewal lab and spent some time looking at the members of the group and prospective new members. The first session will take place September 24th in Leduc, at Ebenezer CRC. If you feel called to help out in this important process, talk to Pastor Mike.

5. Council voted in favor of supporting Sherry Tenbrinke in attending the Life to the Full training in Ontario this fall.

6. We read the minutes of the various Ministry Leadership Teams.

7. Classis will be meeting October 12th to 13th at West End CRC in Edmonton. Our delegates will be Pastor Mike and Elder Wayne Bowman. We are hoping to send a deacon as well.

8. A note to ALL Ministry Leadership Teams to have a budget given to our church treasurer, August Luymes, by October 9th.
