December 4 Bulletin

OUR CHURCH FAMILY

Please remember our church family in your daily prayers, at mealtimes and during your personal devotions. Continue to remember those young and old with ongoing physical, spiritual, and emotional struggles.

Congratulations to Gerald Keitel with the celebration of his birthday on Tuesday, December 6th. We pray that you will be blessed with a special day of celebration and in the coming year!

Please make the following changes to your church directory. Please replace the home phone number for Pete & Polly Mooy with the following numbers: Polly – 403-396-2520 and Pete – 403-396-0620. You can also add Dave & Emma Reitsma – address: 306, 4425 Heritage Way, Lacombe, AB, T4L 2P4 and telephone: 403-782-3995.

Do remember those who are unable to worship regularly with us: please keep Jenny Bajema, Tilly Biel, Klaas Boskers, Lea Dykstra, Ernie Stebner and Grace Vander Veen in your prayers.

Pray for our missionaries around the world.

The Youth Mission Team

is once again hosting the Sinterklaas Bazaar. It will be held at the Lacombe Christian School gym, 5206 58 St. from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on December 10th. Come join us for games, bake sale and lunch. Come for the fun and fellowship and support of the Young People in their fundraising to participate in a short term mission trip to Tijuana, Mexico with YWAM Homes of Hope.

If you have any gently used or new toys that you can donate for the games at the Sinterklaas Bazaar please give them to Trudy Salomons, Betty Scholing or Wayne Bouwman. A collection box will also be available under the church mailboxes. Thank you!

December Craft Day

is coming up! Saturday, December 10th from 10.30 am to 3.00 pm. It will be a special day. Besides doing crafts there will be the option of doing some Christmas baking. There will also be a special pizza lunch! So all interested, and having portable hobbies (gentlemen, please take note!), are welcome. Those wanting to do baking, please contact Anita (782-2817) timely! The main ingredients will be available, but if you want special things, please bring them along. Also, let Anita know what you would like to bake, so we can synchronize things a bit. You can let either Anita or Margaret (782-4506) know if you are planning to come, so we can organize the pizza lunch plus dessert. To make sure there will be enough pizza for all, please let us know well in time if you are attending the day.

Community Christmas Dinner – Volunteers:

Bethel is once again hosting the Community Christmas Dinner on Christmas Day. This year it will be held in the Centennial Hall at the Lacombe Memorial Centre. We are looking for volunteers for food preparation on Christmas Eve Day from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. We will need volunteers all day on Christmas Day for a variety of tasks. Would you be willing to get the tables ready in the hall? How about leading the singing of Christmas carols? Would you play the piano or another musical instrument? Could you open with Christmas devotions and prayer? Please phone Cora Hoekstra at 403-782-5107 if you would be willing to help with any of these tasks. It is always a joy and a blessing to be involved with this event.

Community Christmas Dinner - Desserts

Are you willing to make a dessert for the Christmas Day Dinner? Please let Cora know if you can help out in this way.

Save the date!

Summer and VBS are a long way off, but vacation planning isn't. This year we're planning on holding VBS the week of August 14th to18th. So save the week in your summer to be part of another great year of reaching kids!

PERSECUTED CHURCH

Liberia

Seventeen new believers are being persecuted by their families after converting from Islam to Christianity. They have been threatened, beaten and ordered to stop attending church and listening to Christian music. As a result of the persecution, many of them have fled to nearby villages for safety. Pray that these new believers will continue to follow Jesus, growing stronger in their faith. May they stand firm in the face of hostility (Matthew 10:34-39). May they receive effective discipleship, so they will not only be ministered to but also equipped to reach others - including the family members who are opposing them.
